1. Exactly what President Obama said
Fri May 29, 2015, 11:34 AM
May 2015
President Obama used his executive authority to raise the minimum wage for federal contract workers on Wednesday, declaring: “In the richest nation on earth, nobody who works full-time should have to live in poverty.

At a signing ceremony in the East Room of the White House, Obama urged states, businesses and members of Congress to follow his lead.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/12/obama-minmum-wage-federal-workers-poverty

I'm just wondering why that didn't count as something special. Moreover, it was Senator Harkin and Congressman Miller who introduced a bill that would extend such raise hikes to millions more workers:

A bill before Congress, introduced by senator Tom Harkin and congressman George Miller, both Democrats, would potentially increase the wages of almost 28 million workers.

Bernie's statement is a common Democratic Party mantra. I'm very glad he's repeating it. But I want to make clear that he is far from being the only Democrat to make this statement.

Obama did raise min. wage for federal workers, then stabbed the working class in the back by pushing hard for Fast Track for TPP. I think Bernie is much more consistent in his support for the working class and (hopefully not naively) think he wouldn't prioritize Wall St.

Based on a non existent 'competition' between civil and economic rights.

Hillary and Obama supporters started this meme, so they don't have to talk about economics. It is a non existent riff.

The race is about--well, race. Anything else is a distraction.

That's why Hillary's not discussing irrelevancies like her role as SoS in formulating the TPP.

Get with the program here.

"The second point is that I hope what Ferguson teaches us is that not only the violence being perpetrated against young black men, but also the economic crisis facing black youth in this country. Ed, youth unemployment in America is tragically high. It is twenty percent. African American youth unemployment is thirty-five percent. In the St. Louis area it is significantly higher than that, and if we are going to address the issue of crime in low income areas and in African-American areas, it might be a good idea that instead of putting heavy equipment into police departments in those areas, we start creating jobs for the kids there who desperately need them."
