Does Romney understand that "not remembering" makes it worse?

What kind of person doesn't remember the premeditated hurts he or she has inflicted on another person? The only answer is a sociopath, which means either Romney is lying because he doesn't want to deal with taking responsibility for his actions, or he is a monster (or both).

If he had just come out and said something like, "I was a jerk in high school and this has haunted me ever since. If I am elected I will do everything I can to limit bullying" this whole thing would have been controlled. Instead we have stories about him giggling hysterically, accusing Obama of planting the story and reports he is reaching out to former students to talk about how wonderful he is. No apology or even acknowledgment of the assault.

Romney is a coward.

"I did things as a kid I now regret". Ta-da! Problem disappears.

Either the people running his campaign are so dumb they have to be reminded to breathe, or Mitt's got some real psychological issues.

He couldn't resist trying to lie his way out of this. He doubles-down on these things.

He immediately contradicted his assertion that he had no recall of the incident when he went on stammering:

"I don't remember that incident," Romney told Kilmeade. "I tell you I certainly don't believe that I ... thought the fella was homosexual. That was the furthest thing from our minds"

And when he uses the word "our" in that sentence he speaks for the gang as their leader.

9. He couldn't even lie properly in this case

A better lie would have been a flat denial. What he did means surrogates have to defend his actions. The fact is, he is showing he can't handle criticism or confrontation.

11. Yep, not remembering portrays him as more of a sociopath

I did some awful things as a child and I remember them all -- just as much as the bullying that I endured. It's not something you simply don't remember.

Now, Romney is either a liar or a man devoid of guilt or shame. And, as much as policies matter, people who are not that involved with politics decide things with their gut. There are more people who were picked on and didn't fit in than there are the rich people who lived charmed lives and were always on top and dishing it out.

when he lied about not remembering, indicates to me that he's a man who never had to take responsibility for his actions. Owning up is for the little people or for people who can't buy their way out of any situation.

"Let me add that evil is not irrational necessarily. He thinks and plans. He knows right from wrong perfectly well. There are no voices in his head telling him to do the wrong thing. He simply does not care and he knows he does not care. He also knows he should care."

This simple, plain-spoken statement may be the most damning indictment of Romney I've read so far in any venue.

Sociopaths believe what they say, never mind when it counteracts the last sentence they said. Reality for them is what they want it to be and that can change from minute to minute.

16. Your Hue-mann ways confuse Mitt Romney

At the time of the incident which I do not remember, and which I certainly do not remember whether my associates and myself thought the young hue-mann in question was of the homosexual persuasion or not, I was young as reckoned by your Earth years. It was during this period in my existence that many occurrences transpired that in the intervening time I have been informed would not be acceptable in your hue-mann society. I have further been informed that I should express "re-gret" over this incident, which I am at pains to reiterate I do not remember.

Now, please join me in raising your upper extremities above your heads, moving them in a back-and-forth manner to indicate extreme indifference.
