Racially-Tinged Flyers Appear at Irvine Apartment Complex

Maybe you have that noisy neighbor who blasted the stereo or entertainment system with surround sound at unbelievable volume during inappropriate hours. Apartment living can be difficult for all involved. It is likely you have been either the offender or the offended at one time or another.

But how would you feel if this sign were posted, referring to ethnicity in general as opposed to the specific violators in question? The picture of the controversial elevator flyer comes from one of the residents who originally posted the image on Instagram.

To which, Marty McKenna, a representative for Equity Residential, a publicly traded company that manages 400 apartment complexes in 12 states has responded saying; “This flyer was not created or posted by Equity Residential. We are investigating the source. We are outraged by the content and it does not match our core values as a company.”

but still, somebody put it there.

The OC was once known as a Klan hotbed. Carl of Carl's Jr. cut his political teeth in those days.

Whoever made that sign also made sure that the telephone number of the front office is printed on it twice.

I'll bet that if you had it in for someone in that office, you'd be pretty happy about the phone calls they are getting now.

Property Company: Racist Irvine Apartment Flyer Is a Fake
http://gawker.com/property-company-racist-irvine-apartment-flyer-is-a-fa-1707698512

A racist flyer that made waves on social media today after a resident of an Irvine, Ca. apartment building found it hanging in an elevator is fraudulent, according to a spokesman for property company Equity Residential.

“This flyer is a fake. It wasn’t produced by us. It wasn’t posted by us. I don’t know where it came from,” Equity representative Marty McKenna said over the phone this morning. The flyer—a notice about noise complaints in Irvine’s Toscana apartment complex—included a bolded section directed specifically at African-American residents.

Though, that doesn't mean that it couldn't have been some racist apartment manager who decided to hang such crap up.
