BWHAHAHAHAHAHA: Zimmerman Shooter Plans To Use 'Stand Your Ground' As His Defense

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — An attorney for a Florida man charged with shooting at George Zimmerman said Friday that he planned to use a "Stand Your Ground" defense — the same legal strategy considered but ultimately not used by lawyers for the former neighborhood watch leader who was acquitted in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.

Such a defense would entitle Matthew Apperson to a hearing, ahead of his trial, during which a judge would decide if he deserves immunity from prosecution because he feared imminent death or bodily injury. Apperson was charged earlier this month with aggravated assault and battery for firing a gun into Zimmerman's car during a traffic run-in. Zimmerman had minor injuries.

Zimmerman's defense attorneys had considered asking for a "Stand Your Ground" hearing when the former neighborhood watch leader faced a second-degree murder charge for the February 2012 fatal shooting of Martin, but they instead opted to go straight to a traditional criminal trial.

read, I don't see how he can use the stand your ground defense. Not when the paper reported that he made comments that he was out stalking Zimmerman.

It is karma in the sense that it sounds like he did the same thing that Zimmerman did, but this guy is bad news all around. Certainly not anyone I would want representing my interests.

And you know, that's a good reason to keep to yourself when you're trying to make positive change around here. Too many people think they're getting even by retaliating in a bravado or knee-jerk reaction. That never advances anyone's cause.

Glad you're here! Man, the irony here is almost excruciating. This Stand Your Ground shit is liable to smack ol' Zimmerman upside the head. I'd call it just desserts.

I am one of those who can't believe that Zimmerman is actually walking around free. I think eventually karma will catch him up. But this particular mess seems likely to go nowhere. I have friends in central Florida who tell me there is a special kind of stupid gene there.

How many times has he been taken into custody or otherwise had to face some sort of legal issue since the Trayvon Martin tragedy? We have NOT seen or heard the last of this beast. His track record (and his karma, too, I'd bet) will see to that.
