The fictional representation was a caricature. And the Baltimore it showed was also a caricature.

The real O'Malley is amazing.

Everything he talked about is consistent with his executive action as governor of Maryland.

He is the real thing. He is a man of principle and pragmatism.

As more people get to know them, they will like him.

...the other is a senator, a legislator, who debates and coalesces on laws.

I think there's enough of a difference in their roles and experience to judge them on their own merits.
