Party over principle or Principle over party?

I think I want principle over party, because at this point, I want issues that needs to be addressed properly, and it no longer matters to me if there's an Party label behind the name.

There are three factions of the Democratic Party. The progressives, the centrists, and the corporatists.

The progressives prefer principle over party, and the latter two seem to go with Party over principle...

It's not about Democrats vs Republicans anymore...

It's about the 1% vs the 99%.

Letting a republican president create a conservative majority on the court for the next 30+ years would be a disaster for this country.

That's true of any two people. The more people, the more differences. Most of those are minor. We form political parties because of similarities, rather than differences. Together, we can make progress. Alone, we are just alone. It is not a binary choice.

The real bottom line is this: what are the principles of the party, and are they a match for mine?

... with the party that most closely reflects your personal principles.

If you're looking for a political party that, in totality, agrees with YOU one hundred percent of the time on one hundred percent of the issues, it's time to form your own party - a party of one.

We have - whether you like it or not - a two-party system. You either vote for one or the other; you either elect the representatives of one party or the other to office.

In the alternative, you can always vote Third Party - which is a polite way of saying, "I have chosen to throw my vote away."

Either you believe the Democrats are more interested in the 1%, or you believe the Republicans are.

Your choice.

It is like sailing a ship to an unseen destination: one may be guided by one's stars but cannot ignore the currents, winds and waves

It is like playing bridge: a strategic loss can promote the cards one holds

It is like mountain-climbing: one ultimately aims for the peak but may be forced to traverse a face and then climb down to ascend higher

It is like war: one hopes to command the territory by holding the high ground but operates in a fog of unknowing; while one learns, so also does one's opponent; it is possible to be pinned down or destroyed by flanking fire

The only proof that something can be done is that someone actually does it

centrists and corporatists. Pretty much every Democrat is liberal on social ideas, so I thought economic ones were what created the 'spectrum' in the party these days. Folks who put humans first on the left, folks who put corporations first on the right.
