A Tidal Wave Of Good News In Iowa: Hillary Clinton Soaring and Obama Beloved by DemocratsBy: Sarah Jones

Who do you want for President? Contrary to what the media keeps reporting, theres a clear front-runner and very popular candidate in Hillary Clinton, with 57% of Democrats choosing her as their first choice, with a strong 16% choosing new-comer to the race Bernie Sanders. This means that all of the scandals and faux controversies/conspiracies about the Democratic front-runner have had no impact on the Democratic base in this poll in fact, Clinton is up one point from January as noted by Margaret Talev.
Hillary Clinton remains the overwhelming favorite among Iowa Democrats looking ahead to next years presidential caucuses, though Bernie Sanders has quickly risen as Elizabeth Warrens proxy for the anti-establishment . Seventy-one percent said that the Clintons were getting a bad rap.
It also means that there is nothing but good news here.

(1,967 posts)so either he has cut into Hillary's support or enlarged the group of likely caucus goers. I am skeptical bengazi plays a role in support for Sanders nor Warren. It would relate more to her positions in support of Foreign Intervention, and conservatism on economic issues.

(7,906 posts)In their January poll Warren was at 16%.

So I would guess that the ABCers are already included in that number. I'm not convinced Senator Sander's numbers will go much higher.

(28,270 posts)Not only want it but will require it to win.
Bernie has made zero inroads to that coalition as far as I know.

(297,478 posts)I hear ya on the "..inroads".. but it's so early yet.
But, you just know the candidates have to be thinking of that.. if we are and were paying attention to the 2008 and 2012 GE.

(28,270 posts)All this bashing on the President and Hillary is going to really kill Bernies chance at the nomination.
Darn.

(30,481 posts)Every candidate out there right now should be courting not only Obama supporters, but every old member of his staff, every email they can steal, and Obama himself. I can see how some might think too far into it and make a mistake. The mistake would be to not court his supporters, staff, and even him at every turn, and trying to stand next to him as often as possible.

(30,481 posts)it's truly nothing but good news at this point. Our rock star is out there leading the pack and doing so in her own way. Sanders is gaining momentum as expected and will be a welcome voice in the debates. O'Malley is ready and will start building his own momentum. We are really looking good on this side of the isle. I would be embarrassed trying to find anything positive about the other side.

(28,270 posts)pushing out retirement age to 99 before killing it all together, kill the minimum wage, "right to work" nationally and more massive tax cuts for the Walton heirs and the Koch bros.
Your choice America!
