here is how genuinely fucked I see the GOPs future

They are so locked in to a closed minded older white southern demographic echo chamber (fox news) that we have arrived at a point in history where our center left/business/third wave feminist frontrunner, our cool old professor real socialist, or our used to be Regan's something or another love guns and was vet against the Iraq war from the git go guy will easily kick the crap out of any of the dozens of weak sisters the GOP has to offer.

I still say it will be Clinton v Bush. But clearly ANY of ours beat ANY of theirs.

... of the media over the next 18 months. But I agree with you that they have backed themselves into a primary conundrum that conflicts with the necessities of campaigning in the general. It will be interesting to watch.

... you were.

Another phenomenon at work is that current polls and temperature takings are primarily measuring the attitudes of those of us who follow politics all the time. Wait until the masses take note of the election a month or two out and things could change rapidly.

especially for Presidential elections, don't know or understand the issues and vote on personality.
Look how many voters can't connect the disasters of the Bush years with the GOP.

Huge money was instantly pumped into the Tea Party which totally distracted from the disaster they left us with.

I believe that they will reinvent themselves once again and cling to power, perhaps not in the White House but definitely in Congress. Because the Republican Party is the tool of the oligarchs who now control even more moolah than they did ten years ago and they don't want to give it back. Investing hundreds of millions to confuse and corrupt to their benefit is a great investment.

GOP is the backwards party.

And it will be more so as the "left behind" crowd discovers Republicans can't make enough snow or rain to keep the dams full.

And they caught the Dems absolutely flat footed on local elections in 2008 and 2010 - that is where they have done their gerrymandering and crazy social policy initiatives

.voter suppression, & media purchase, & billion$ of dollars spent on scripted lies..
The GOPTeaParty will lose the Pres election as well as a few House & Senate seats via the coattails factor.

The Supreme Court will belong to American Democracy for generations. And that alone is a really big effing blow to the Gop.
We have far stronger candidates than any they can ever present.

2016 is ours
