New York DU'ers, I would like an honest answer to a question.

The question is, what are the chances of a single payer system in your state? It's one thing to submit a bill and study. It's another to actually pass that bill. Any honest assessment is greatly appreciated.

The razor-thin Repub majority in the legislature is keeping even the watered down, milquetoast "Exchanges" in limbo.

And while New York Republicans are more moderate than in other parts of the country, progress happens mighty slowly here because of them. So I don't see us getting a single payer system any time soon.

So yeah, downstate. And conservative as hell!

The state is a mixed bag but on the whole it's pretty good, and I wouldn't live anyplace else.
