(955 posts)Just wasn't sure if Obama would or not, seemed to be doing a little too much hedging with that whole 'evolving' thing.

(2,307 posts)But I thought it would be Jan 2015 after he has no more elections to worry about.

(32,060 posts)or that it would be a future dem president. I'm middle aged and *knock on wood* hoping to see many more presidents and I'm convinced this is not an issue for most folks under 30. Well except for fundamentalist spawn of course ...

(22,541 posts)As soon as he declared Sec. 3 of DOMA to be unconstitutional, I knew Obama would do it. But I was also wrong because not 2 months ago I declared he wouldn't do it before the election. It was right about the time that an LGBT blogger came out with a story saying he was hearing rumblings about an announcement coming soon.
Anyway, I was kind of mad about it because I was sure it wouldn't happen and that people would be disappointed and hurt all over again. So my apologies to that blogger, whoever it was. He was right and I was wrong.
I am pleasantly surprised, and glad he did. I'm in my 60's and didn't think it would happen for another 20 years or so, now I could make my mid 80's, but am not counting on it.

Not this soon anyway.
I never knew I'd see a black President either.
