Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will speak to a group of Latino elected and appointed officials during her June visit to Las Vegas.
The former secretary of state will speak at the 32nd annual conference of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, according to a Clinton campaign aide. The conference will take place at the Aria resort from June 17-19. Clinton will be in Nevada on June 18.
Other conference speakers include Congresswoman Dina Titus, D-Nevada, Nevada Sen. Mo Denis, D-Las Vegas, Nevada Sen. Ruben Kihuen, D-Las Vegas, and Assemblywoman Irene Bustamante Adams, D-Las Vegas, according to the conferences list of speakers on its website.
Earlier this week, Clintons campaign said her visit to the Silver State is part of the official launch of her presidential run. Its part of a swing through all four early primary and caucus states.

(30,481 posts)They are people well connected in local communities and nationally. Hillary has always been excellent at coalition building. She was equaled or outmatched in this area with Obama. Few in politics have ever built a coalition like Obama in such a short time. It was beyond impressive. Hillary understands that.

(151,281 posts)People tend to think that Hispanics live in the southwest, primarily. That's decidedly not true today. St. Paul, the city I live in, has it's own Cesar Chavez Blvd., and a thriving Hispanic community throughout the Twin Cities. Since I'm a Californian, by birth and longevity, it's heartening to have many opportunities to use my Spanish here. And that's not even to mention some outstanding Mexican restaurants representing the regional cuisines of all of Mexico within easy reach.
The United States is increasingly an ethnically mixed nation, and that's from coast to coast and border to border.

(151,281 posts)be done as early as possible. It's crucial for every Democratic candidate to have strong support from those demographic groups. Candidates who ignore that do so at their own risk. Hillary Clinton understands that, and has demonstrated it by hiring advisers and campaign leaders from every ethnic and demographic group. Experience in campaigning is a plus in primary elections.
I'm sure the other candidates are aware of this need, as well. It's very early in the primary race.
