So the Pentagon has "lost" $8.5 trillion since 1996, what $8.5 trillion looks like

http://crooksandliars.com/2015/06/report-reveals-85-trillion-missing

Yahoo Money' The Daily Ticker is reporting that is has discovered a Reuters investigation that reveals $8.5 trillion – that's trillion with a "T" – in taxpayer money doled out by Congress to the Pentagon since 1996 that has never been accounted for.

A few ways to get an idea of what $8.5 trillion looks like

$1172 for every person in the world (yes, 7.25 billion people)

$26,480 for everyone living in the United States (321 million)

$69,672 for everyone who pays federal income tax (122 million as of 2010)

106 Bill Gates (each with a net worth of $80 billion)

8,500 x 1 billion

8,500,000,000,000

Take this stack of $100 million dollars in $100 bills

Put enough together to make about $1 trillion dollars (and yes, these are double stacked)

and then multiply this by 8.5

and another one half of one of these

Talk about possibly the biggest heist in world history.

To take care of the bookkeeping. Oh no, all the papers to track that money gone up in smoke. Aw Shucks. The last time we were told about the money loss of the Pentagon we were attacked. And on the day of groundbreaking ceremony of Pentagon 09/11/41.

I'm going to have just a weensy bit of trouble listening to the budget hawks (like those assholes in Kansas) bitching about people spending part of their SNAP benefits on unapproved shrimp. Swallowing whole herds of elephants while straining out the eyelashes of gnats.
