Is there a global contest for scummiest human behavior of the week?

Thieves Steal Paralympic Athlete’s Prosthetic Legs and Championship Medals

Thieves broke into the home of Paralympic athlete Paul Peterson, stealing his prosthetic legs and championship medals. Now, Peterson is working to raise $30,000 to replace the legs.

“They took a lot of valuable stuff that I work hard for, especially the medals. It’s just really sad, somebody could just take something like that from you. And the legs, nobody else can use them. They’re made for me,” he told Time Warner Cable News in Charlotte, N.C.

Peterson is a sprinter for Team USA. He had his leg amputated after a motorcycle accident in 2007 when he was 15. He is currently ranked third in the nation in the 100 meter and has been training intensely for the upcoming National Paralympic Championship, according to his GoFundMe page.
