I do wonder why M$Greedia never gives her deserved due.
6-3; 4-1 as Safarova is about to serve.
Serena is the greatest female player of all time. True women's tennis is weak, but she can give them the first set and still beat them all.

justiceischeap
(14,040 posts)because I think it takes more strategy and finesse to be a good female tennis player. They don't have those "400mph" serves that the men seem to build their careers on. Take this match, for example, one misstep and the tides can turn (I know this can happen in mens' tennis too but it seems more dramatic in women's for some reason).

(33,688 posts)Not a big tennis follower, but I didn't realize she had blown by Martina and Chrissie so decisively. I was definitely a fan back in their day and loved to watch them in the big tournaments. They almost always wound up playing each other.

underahedgerow
(1,232 posts)is no one better than she is -- in any sport, male or female!
On top of that, she is sweet, kind, generous and very loving. The only time she ever, ever gets all riled up is when she's on the court. It's like she stores all that love energy and turns it into fire.
I LOVE watching her play. I had to miss RG this year sadly, but I'm really hoping to make it up to Wimbledon to see her play in a few weeks.
I hate all the people who say mean things, such as how 'manly' she is, and the constant accusations from morons who claim she dopes, when in fact, she's focused on super clean living, eating extremely healthy and extreme fitness. There is nothing manly about her, she is extremely feminine and girly. Gosh, I just love her! And her little dog Chip!
malaise
(269,103 posts)Unbelievable.
Only idiots and racists don't find her 'girly' as you put it.
