Sorry, I tried to post this in the sports section....but....there's been nothing posted there for weeks....so I'm doing it here, posting I mean.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was pulled over by law enforcement today while driving to his own charity event this morning according to TMZ.com.
According to sources, Jackson was on his way to a church in Philadelphia when he was pulled over by a state trooper. The trooper seemed to recognize DeSean and began acting very rudely towards him.
Sources say the trooper told DeSean he pulled him over for having tinted windows and suspected him of driving drunk. The trooper ordered DeSean to perform a field sobriety test at about 9:00 am.
A witness on the scene told TMZ the trooper was very rough towards DeSean and was yelling at him the entire time. The witness says DeSean never gave the trooper an attitude and followed his instructions at all times.
Eventually, we're told the trooper let DeSean go without a ticket and he made his way to the Triumph Baptist Church in Philly, where the event was being held. DeSean founded the DeSean Jackson Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer after his father died from it in 2009.
WTH????? in his own area of playing football!!!! What the hell is going on?? I'm so ashamed. It was 9:00AM !!!!!

(22,143 posts)I'm sure that is not his first driving while black stop. Asshole cop intentionally trying to provoke a confrontation. Don't give him the satisfaction.
I'm really getting sick of living here.

(49,212 posts)because he was driving the speed limit. Which, in California, is a sure sign that one is up to something. So the police officer asked when he'd last had something to drink, and he responded, "March, I think?" It was summertime. Needless to say we were on our way and the couple who had called it in (they'd pulled up behind the cop to get congratulated or just to be nosy) got a talking to about wasting his time.
The driver was from out of state, he's since learned the fine art of speeding just enough not to draw attention. Driving the speed limit around here generally gets the cops to thinking you really don't want to be pulled over, so they tend to find a BS excuse to make sure you're not drunk or transporting a haybale of weed or something.

(29,322 posts)even if he was drunk, what is the probable cause to pull him over and is the cop within his rights? If the sources are correct that it was for "window tinting" I can't imagine that as a proper reason though I honestly don't know. In places I've lived tinting is legal as long as it is not the front window and isn't too dark. The reason why I'm wondering if it is proper is because tinting is fairly common and I can't imagine cops pulling over everyone that has tinted windows. I looked up tinting in Pennsylvania and it appears to be the same.

I guess the cop would probably say "it appeared to dark" or "he swerved across the center line".
That doesn't even get into what it was that made the officer think he may be drunk. Even if there was no reason (like slurred speech) a cop can always make one up later.
Searching around for info I found a link to your story. There is also apparently pictures of the incident.

(204 posts)Everytime I have been pulled over for no reason other than a LEO wanted to check me out it has been for supposedly crossing the fog or center line. As a middle-aged white male it is almost always a quick and cordial encounter ending up with a "warning" about keeping it on the road.
