They will do anything it takes now. It is often said that 'Truth is the first casualty of war' so it helps to simply look at a timeline of events WITHOUT the misdirection of the political narrative overlaid.
ISIS is not their enemy. Assad is.

should have self-destructs built in, with 'expiration dates' or the ability to remotely destroy them simply by getting some sort of transmitter in the vicinity of them or both.
American provided weapons and equipment routinely fall into the hands of 'the wrong people'.

But these are still "fresh". CIA gave them to one of the "good" rebels who gave them to IS.
The US will not be happy until every Alawite is dead.
