Mom involved in vicious Beech Grove Walmart fight says confrontation started over racist remark

A woman named Amber called the Smiley Morning Show on WZPL to talk about the fight, which happened Thursday night at the store. Amber told the hosts she was in Walmart when she heard a woman in a motorized scooter–a woman she’d later fight–call an employee the “n-word.”

“(The woman) was sitting there yelling at an employee at Walmart, and she was telling her that she was a (expletive) and that she was going to get out of the chair and whoop her (expletive),” the woman said.

“She used the ‘n-word?'” the host asked.

“Yes, she used the ‘n-word,'” the woman said. “So in my defense, I was standing up for the employee.”

Even running with the assumption that she is telling the truth she should have disengaged and reported scooter woman's racist remarks to management.

Instead she threw maturity out the window and allowed herself to stay there and be drawn into a fight.

Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley called the situation “embarrassing” and pointed the finger at Walmart.

“I think it’s disgusting and it sure sheds a poor light on Walmart and I’m pretty disappointed in them,” he told Fox 59 over the phone.

Buckley said the store is a public nuisance that’s draining the City’s resources.

“Last year we had over a thousand runs to Beech Grove Walmart last year. That is unacceptable,” said the Mayor. “We can’t patrol the neighborhoods like we should be patrolling, because we’re down at Walmart dealing with petty theft all day long.”

24. Well, even the Walmart where I live is obsessed with petty theft.

And the cops patrol it 24 hours a day.

I think Walmart sees stealing from them as worse than fist fights and even stampede deaths on Black Friday or outright murder. They don't care much about those, but they harp on people stealing from the store like it is the worst than that could ever happen. I get that no store wants that, but Walmart, at least the one where I live, is obsessed with it to the point of being ridiculous.
