Televangelist Franklin Graham, eager to reject Wells Fargo's (NYSE: WFC) first-time inclusion of a lesbian couple in a national ad, now has a unique problem: Finding a bank in America that's anti-LGBT enough.
Graham, the son of Billy Graham, made national headlines this week with his Facebook page post calling on Christians not to do business with Wells Fargo or others that "promote sin."
On Tuesday, Graham said that he had moved the accounts of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to Winston-Salem, N.C.-based BB&T. He made the disclosure in an interview with "Washington Watch," a radio program broadcast by the Family Research Council, a group long opposed to LGBT equality.
Right Wing Watch sent out a missive Tuesday noting that BB&T (NYSE: BBT) scores a relatively high 80 percent on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index and this year is sponsoring the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade. It also serves as chief sponsor of the Miami Beach Gay Pride's "Legacy Couples" program celebrating same-sex couples who have been "in committed relationships of 10 years or more."
