Is this election really about race?

Well, yes, as long as you're talking about the general run of ignorant wingnut teabaggers.

Their leaders, on the other hand, could give a shit less about race except insofar as it provides a handle for manipulating their white sheep. What THEY want is someone who won't interfere with their continuing their rape & pillage of the world. Romney is their guy.

that's the problem with civil rights, correct? all these people keep saying that they are treated differently because of their race.

if only they would just be quiet, would that make you happy?

Not all Republicans are racists, but all (OK, most) racists are Republicans.

this from the last presidential race & it has never gone away. Obama is a Muslim, Obama is not one of us, Obama is not a christian, etc., he is everything but not one of us. The racist wing nuts have come out of the woodwork since President Obama has been in office because the extremist racists cannot stand the fact that a black man is in office. Now, you are also correct that the leaders of the republican party may not themselves be racist but do you ever see them stopping the hate rhetoric coming out of the radio airwaves or on the tv or at the rallies? No, because as you say they want it and are using "race" for their own purpose.

Aside from that, I believe some of the leaders are full fledged racists. One way or the other, race is a pretty significant factor in this election.

Perry & Santorum come to mind.

But a lot of the politicians are venal twerps who function only at the sufferance of the real Masters of the Universe, whjo are for the most part invisible to us (as the Koch Brothers wish they still were). I'm really talking about the Powers behind the Politicians. In fact these days the very rich don't mind a person's skin color as long as that person is also wealthy. The divisions are more class-based than race-based, but it's hard to tell the difference because of the high level of confounding of the two variables.

it's not classy to mention race about that party?

i didn't agree to be colorblind to racism and racial stereotype.

if you think you can convince us that being colorblind means being blind to racism and exploitation of racial stereotypes, you don't know us, us DUers well at all.

one ride or the other is going to do or say something to get the other side talking about race.

unless the election is between 2 white people then I feel race will always be brought up.
