Great photos DemoTex. Thanks for sharing them. That second one of the black and white 'floating moon' is my favorite.

(242 posts)Have you visited Colorado and appreciated her beauty?
DemoTex
(26,260 posts)But not since certain substances became legal. I'm a big fan of Durango, and southern Colorado.

(242 posts)and there's a little village close to mid-south Colorado that's an art colony called Crestone. You might appreciate it.

The. Very. Best.
Damn.
Greatest Page for you, babe.

(26,260 posts)I try. God knows, I try. (That's what my mamma used to say when I provoked her, which was often!)

(126,256 posts)After the controversy related to a certain member last week it's surprising that they can find anybody to take on this assignment, yet alone anybody that is available for the graveyard shift.
Has DU lowered its standards by letting me be a host--possibly, that could be a meta thread itself. I think that Skinner gives me some leeway since I post cat pictures.

(126,256 posts)I just wanted to spice up one of the threads tonight and provide it some extra kicks. I couldn't resist having some fun because of the title of this thread. A little innuendo is a good thing, a big innuendo is also known as a whopper.
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,297 posts)I do love a little innuendo, myself...
Good night, my dear TexasTowelie!

(126,256 posts)No posting of moon shots or other pornography on DU since it is a TOS violation. Next time use a NSFW warning!
Jumpin Jack Flash
(242 posts)People could construe it and get confused with moon shots vs mooning shots, or perhaps pot shots vs moon shots, or perhaps....

(26,260 posts)I could do a "selfie" moon shot. Scare the hell out of everybody on DU! Get banned. And get the BIG TS - remember these?

"Lonstar" was the first DUer I saw get TSed. May 2001, a week or so after Will Pitt and I joined DU.

(126,256 posts)Bragging about your tripod.
And you're remote--yeah we know that you're looking out for forest fires, but that is no excuse.
Guess what buddy? All of us guys have tripods, but we don't have to proclaim it in public on DU. Who are you trying to impress?
Next thing you'll boast about is that you got a selfie stick. Please spare us the details because you'll fail to measure up.
DemoTex
(26,260 posts)I have a big Manfrotto mono-pod too. But when I get a selfie stick, just send the guys in white for me. Put me out of my misery.

(126,256 posts)He is the one that wants to test the boundaries of morality on DU. I'm just thinking about the children.

(19,996 posts)You have a real eye and true talent for photography, either way.
I'd say don't stop taking photos, but I have a feeling it's in your blood.
DemoTex
(26,260 posts)I prefer to stay a retired airline pilot, and a damn good USFS fire lookout. That makes it easier to take professional quality landscape photos. But it has been in my blood since I got my first camera in about 1958 at age ten.
But I support my professional photographer friends. Most are better than I am, anyway. I won't scab them. I'm former union. ALPA (AFL-CIO). I do sell work, and report it to the IRS. But that is too rare to call myself a professional photographer.

(19,996 posts)And your photography talent. Your hobby suits you. I know professionals with less of a natural eye, and much less time under their belts. I have a feeling you could have made a living at it if you'd chosen to. However, it's not an easy living, and it sounds as if you found a very good niche for yourself in life, which suited you just fine. We should all be so fortunate!
I'm glad you're able to share you're lovely photos with an audience. Too often talented "hobbyist" work never gets shared, and is lost to the masses. Which is a real shame in my opinion.
