The Obama campaign is launching an offensive Monday attacking Mitt Romney on his record at the private equity firm Bain Capital in a new ad campaign, painting the presumptive Republican nominee as a greedy, corporate job-destroyer.
During the primary, Newt Gingrich and even Rick Perry went after Mitt Romney as a vulture capitalist, prompting Democrats to get on board and attack Romneys private equity background. But Democrats always intended to hold onto the Bain attacks until the general election, and now it looks like they are getting to them on their own schedule.
The Obama campaign is going up with a new, 2-minute ad airing in Iowa, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Ohio, accompanied by a 6-minute video and a new website, RomneyEconomics.com. The size of the ad buy is unknown, but the campaign is in the middle of a $25 million ad campaign this month.

(35,620 posts)In the above Obama commercial, there's a clip of Romney saying that he knows how jobs are created and where jobs go. His body language: he's pointing down. Pointing down?

(51,076 posts)and lose a shitpot full of others, emphasis on 'lose.' I just hope this doesn't turn off some of the Independents and fence setters in the Democratic party by going down this Atwater, Rove, path of campaigning. Yes I worry about the pukes and how they will pull out all the stops including stealing votes to win this one. I feel they feel that this is a must win for them. They think that with four more years of this black man that the old white man's club thats had a strangle hold on the oval office since day one will be gone for good, in other words not to be a given any longer

(15,445 posts)Do you think it will play for or against Obama among independents and other fence-sitters?
Is there a risk that it will be perceived as "negative camgaigning" and that it will turn off the "middle"?

(53,061 posts)identify strongly with the people in this ad.
Its what ended his career in MA.
It almost stopped his nomination until Gingrich and Santorum stopped hitting on Bain.
It has real people who are very convincing at it employs the effective strategy defined by Karl Rove, go after the candidates perceived strong point and destroy him there. In this case, unlike Kerry, it can be done by actually telling the truth.

(3,245 posts)special here in PA.
This fucking governor we have is as closely tied to corporate money as anyone ever has. There hasn't been one thing he's done that hasn't helped his corporate base.
When you tie Rmoney's corporate record and Corbett's record of always helping the corporation at the expense of the populace could very easily cause alot of support among independants to wane.
