They could call it a "Fairness Doctrine" and it would require that stations air opposing views.

That would be the democratic thing to do, anyway.

My guess is they have decidedly bigger audience. They also have an undeserved patina of being non-partisan. Ergo the big wet kisses from NPR paints him as quite acceptable.
