(61,883 posts)this is when I find DU at its best - reporting news, pulling together - and what we stand for and agree on becomes so clear, and rises above the inevitable petty bickering.

(20,054 posts)We need to stand together, now more than ever. I'm tired, I'm angry and I'm hurting.
Tonight we mourn our losses. Tomorrow will be here too soon for us to deal with the aftermath.

(7,822 posts)I'm glad for DU at times like this. I have no personal connection to this story, but this one really breaks my heart in ways it's hard to explain.

(20,054 posts)Tonight feels like a heartbreaking, gut wrenching cumulation of the race baiting, divisiveness and hate in our country. I kept reaching out to people tonight, I think hoping they'd tell me I was over reacting, or letting so-and-so's grief effect my emotions. But, they didn't. For the most part they're all as shell shocked as I am.
Which is what was behind my words to you. We're all lost and hurting, maybe even in a bit of shock in some cases. We need each other, and the support we gain from knowing we're not alone in our emotions. You said it well, and with less words than I need to attempt to make the exact same point.

(3,580 posts)But I know what I feel. I'm angry, sad and heartbroken. When I think how could it get worse, it does get worse. I'll think in the morning. For now I'll mourn.
