Missing FBI agent now subject of a nationwide manhunt

Special Agent Stephen Ivens appeared to be distraught and may have been suicidal, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said, citing interviews with family members and evidence collected by investigators. She declined to elaborate.

He's armed and suicidal ... seems like a short term condition. Why do I get the feeling this guy will wind up dead no matter how it goes down?

FBI agents are supposed to carry a gun. Why make an issue of a missing gun when he's expected to carry a weapon at all times?
