I can't ever see Hillary quoting Dwight D. Eisenhower's famous "military-industrial complex" line......
On 6-14-15 in Indianola, Iowa, Senator Bernie Sanders responds to a "Governing Under the Influence" question about the massive political influence from Pentagon contractors, such as Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman who spend millions on lobbying and elections to influence public policy.
*Video starts here, addressing President Eisenhower*
Communist Dwight D. Eisenhower *crowd laughs*. Just as he was leaving office, when Kennedy was coming in he said beware of the military industrial complex. And he said these people are self-serving, and this was coming from a guy who was a four-star general who led the effort into Europe who knew a little bit about military spending. And he said beware that theyre not necessarily entrusted in the well-being of our country, theyre entrusted in their own power and profits.
I think when Eisenhower said fifty plus years ago (inaudible) that these guys are enormously powerful. There is a revolving door where generals and admirals open the military into defense contractors.
So let me just tell you a little bit about what were trying to do now.

"....We do know that there have been massive, massive cases of cost overruns. The companies are coming in and saying Ill build this weapons system for you $5 billion. Well it turns out to be $10 billion. We do know that virtually every major military contractor, has been either convicted of fraud, trying to rip off the taxpayers of this country or reach a settlement with the government in lieu of being found guilty.
So we have every reason to believe there is massive waste within the military. Do we want a strong military? In my view, we do. But we need a military, which like every other agency of government should cost effective and that certainly is not the case now....

It is time we start cutting back the fat checks of these welfare kings. We can't afford it and they don't deserve it.

Defense is socialism, but our corrupt capitalists are stealing from the people.
This is why we need someone like Bernie as president: he'll make sure our socialism is done right and government is non-corrupted.

Friend works as an accountant for the Army; says DoD's record in audits is laughable.
