From what I have seen of him, he is nothing but a loud-mouthed bully.
He intimidates most guests that are on his show simply by screaming louder than anyone else. He seems to think the loudest person is always right?
Why does MSNBC keep him on the air? He is nothing but a mouthpiece for the Republican right-wing noise machine.
Do you see any redeeming qualities in him?

(30,674 posts)for his unrepentant whining and propaganda, not to mention frequent guest Aunt Betsy (Pat Buchanan)
I must admit I have seen him act like a real human being a couple of times.
But those few times are completely eclipsed by his normal, everyday, loud-mouthed right-wingnuttery.
I've seen him behave 'reasonably' on occasion only to be a RW tool/mouthpiece others. He seems to blow RW when it 'matters' and behave as a 'moderate/reasonable' republican when it makes him look good and won't hurt a republican he's for.

(37,152 posts)...from being heard. Don't understand why anyone wants to be a guest - or why Mika stays on the show. Surely she could get another gig - one that doesn't require her to be seen and not often heard.
One redeeming quality is that he sometimes calls out his party.

(57,936 posts)I have wondered whether she stays on the show simply so that women will know what an obnoxious man he is. It's as if by sitting there, quietly, intelligently commenting when permitted to do so by the boss, she reminds of just what the world was like for women when male misogynists ran it.

(37,152 posts)Made me think she'd be a better example if she didn't let herself be so degraded on that show. I'd feel better if she was there for the reason you suggest - if not, then she really doesn't know her value.

(3,290 posts)The discussion on his show always sounds to me like a bunch of privileged frat boys sneering at those they think are beneath them. He gets on there with jerks like serial plagiarist Mike Barnicle and toadie Willie Geist and they just mock anyone who disagrees with them.
And Mika sits there and acts like his bused spouse. You know, for balance.

(17,609 posts)liar, hypocrite who throws temper tantrums when things don't go his way. Intimidator, uses this method everyday with help from the boys around the table who seem to be afraid of him.
Use his lapdogs as his yes men (harold ford) to agree with all of the nonsense. Thinks he knows every damn thing and leaves the set when he knows he can't mentally defeat a guest.
Expect him to become more unraveled as we get closer to the election and I hope more of the guests push his buttons. I have been waiting for his temper to get the best of him and hoping he gets his ass kicked on air that would be my dream show.
I have been wishing for this for a long time same thing for Slannity..

(163,986 posts)as a color man for the 2006 elections on another channel, he was smart, thoughtful and intuitive. I couldn't believe my ears and eyes. But after that, it was clear he plays a character on his Morning Ho show and a disgusting one at that. I can't watch it.

Got kicked off for making some racist remark about a women's basketball team.
I don't think MSNBC cares who's on that show. They run it live on the west coast (starts at 3 AM) so very few people watch it out here. If it was any good they'd run it tape delayed at 6 AM.
The only place I ever see anybody refer to the Morning Joke show is here on DU. Not sure anybody else even watches it.

(22,123 posts)For the past couple of years, the show was going stale. Mika sits there with this "Nancy Reaganesque" look on her face as she stares lovingly at Joe.
I have no idea how he got a show in the first place. Who cares about his 20 years ago experience as a Congressperson? Really. That was a long time ago.

(27,311 posts)He is often embarrassed by the antics of his repuke brethern and the tea party.. However, when push comes to shove he will always spout the pevailing repuke spin. He wants to be a leader, but the only follower he can find is his underling, Willie Geist.

(94,358 posts)If so, I'll skip it. Otherwise I'll opine that, while he's clearly "conservative", he's wildly off-kilter with the Tea-Party in control of the GOP, and isn't afraid to say it. And overall, I find the MJ guests to be a good mainstream balance of opinions. Is it a "liberal" show? No, of course not; but if I wanted a show that simply reinforced my opinions I'd watch Current TV.

(22,911 posts)So I have to give him his share of the credit for having a show on TV where intelligent topics are sometimes discussed and the range of guests includes more liberals than can most anywhere else - and they are allowed to get their statements in without being completely hounded.
Joe comes across as a blowhard mostly who is full of himself. Ten years ago he would have simply been a jerk. Nowhe stands out as one of a rare handful of Republicans with some national staning who will sometimes buck the current Republican line - while still mostly sounding like he's full of himself.

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/joe-scarborough-lambastes-conservative-websites-for-posthumous-vilification-of-trayvon-martin/
On MSNBCs Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough delivered a devastating critique of conservative sites that have engaged in a coordinated effort to tarnish the reputation of Trayvon Martin in death.
Why is it that some on the right are actually taking this up as a cause, asked an incredulous Scarborough. As National Review said almost immediately after it happened, this has nothing to do with gun rights, this has nothing to do with the second amendment, this has nothing to do with stand your ground laws, this has nothing to do with the NRA. This has everything to do with a guy who is trying to play security cop, who is unhinged, who chased down and shot a 17-year-old kid armed with Skittles and iced tea.
