Share the BERN with Friends.........
Six days ago I wrote a post called "BERNIE is on FIRE on Facebook" where I stated that Bernie's Facebook activity is 2 times the amount of Hillary's.
A good 400-500 likes per hour vs Hillary's 200-300 likes per hour.
That was six days ago.
Want to know what the comparisson is now using the same web app Quintly?
Bernie's now getting 1,448 likes per hour. Hillary is getting 122.
In just 6 short days he now has OVER TEN TIMES THE AMOUNT OF FACEBOOK ACTIVITY when compared to Hillary. Going from Hillary beating him, to Bernie getting two times, and now over ten times?
That's 35,703 per day vs Hillary's 2,920.
And this is just in six days. (2 weeks if you go back to when Hillary was leading using this metric)
At this rate... Bernie will catch up to Hillary in total likes.... in just under 10 more days.
Bernie is a full blown social media inferno. Just look at this chart of activity over the last hour:
Look at all that light blue! (Bernie is the light blue)
That combined with the humongous crowds that he has been getting just shows you how much the Democratic voters are hungry for this guy.
We want real change.
We want the truth.
We want someone who is fighting for us.
Bernie is reawakening the same hopes that brought Obama to power.

(26,449 posts)The difference is that Bernie will harness that energy to get a congress that will support his agenda.

(26,449 posts)I didn't mention coat tails, although I hope to help build some, the fact is that time is short to get primary candidates ready to run for congress.
Bernie has said he will keep people engaged putting pressure on Congress. I think he will have a compliant congress if for no other reason all those guys will feel the pressure.
By the time mid terms roll around, there will be a second wave of populist candidates.

Just wanted to point out that he has had a great deal of support even as a Senator...
I waited until now to like his FB.

(11,641 posts)I thought some may be interested in seeing the numbers as he has quite the following for it.
The likes for both accounts probably help but the other account will be more relevant as it's for his presidential run rather than his Senate stuff.
To get his current presidential information in your FB news feed you probably would want to like the account Segami links to.

(15,435 posts)I want to post something on my page, which I rarely use for anything BUT my favorite sport... TENNIS!
It will stick out BIG TIME because all my friends will NOTICE for sure because I've refused to use my page for the usual, "where are you now, what are you doing or other simplistic topics.. I've posted some pics or some activism, but not much.
I've already "liked" his Senator page.

(11,641 posts)Sorry for the confusion.
I just posted the other one to show that his Senator Sanders page had over a million likes.

(22,271 posts)something the Practical People told us couldn't happen because Bernie is so old. I understand people of all ages use social media but I don't think there's any doubt that the majority of those people are under 40 -- a VERY good sign.
I said this two years ago, Hillary's popularity is a mile wide and an inch deep. She has Wall Street and she has the Party Faithful and that's it. She has nowhere else to go for support. Progressives aren't going to touch her and she has ZERO crossover appeal. Her campaign is stagnant and will stay that way. Bernie's campaign, however, just keeps gaining momentum and in a Yuuuuge way.
Feel the Bern, baby!

(7,865 posts)The last I heard of their polls they were primarily polling people that had land-lines which led to a bias for much older people.
I also would point out the Wall Street Journal is a hell of a lot more afraid of Bernie than they are of Hillary.
But aside from all that just give us time. Bernie went from below 3% to 15% in just over a month. We have six months to go and there hasn't been a single debate yet.
Give us time.

(247 posts)I've been watching a very divisive thread about lies about Bernie and I was getting depressed at how easy it is just to make shit up.
I feel better now and am staying away from people that are out of control liars.

(22,271 posts)Seriously, putting the most blatant liars on Ignore leaves far less clutter on your screen. Leave a few off ignore just for the entertainment value but the rest of them are a complete waste of time.

(5,400 posts)Sanders doesn't have big time name recognition, but he's also lacking in the kind of baggage that keeps people at a distance. Long story short, "what's not to like?", and people are gratified to find a candidate and a message that resonates with their circumstances. Imo this is going to be a big factor in our early primaries. Sanders is going to resonate with the voters who come out to the events connected to those.

But I mentioned Bernie to a gal I was working closely with...she wasn't even sure who he is...wrote his name down for her...she asked me about HRC (I gave a general comment about my "concerns" ...she said she too now had concerns and would look into Bernie.
I told her that I thought she would be intrigued...she said she would look him up and seemed interested!

(12,163 posts)I think a lot of people have in interest in Bernie's positions and what he has to say. I know I do.
Hopefully they won't try to do that at his campaign website or they'll end up scratching their heads.
His website is very thin on content. I mean VERY thin. I've only heard good things about him over the years, and I was looking forward to digging into some of his proposals.
Problem is, they're not there. Well, maybe some crumbs are there. There are some bullet points about his accomplishments - impressive indeed. But very little by way of substance about the future.
I'm sure that's in the works. He would be wise to post more details since there's obviously a hunger from people who want to learn more about him and what he proposes.
