Only a simply majority vote is needed to remove the flag, contrary to what many media outlets have reported. On Tuesday, Charleston newspaper The Post & Courier asked lawmakers what they think about the Confederate flag. Many said they would vote to remove it and some wouldnt answer or were undecided, but eight House representatives said they were sure they would vote no. Heres a closer look at those eight.
Rep. Mike Burns (R-Greenville)
Burns, a South Carolina native, said the flag shouldnt be taken down because people view is as a way to honor their heritage and their ancestors who fought in the Civil War.
Rep. Bill Chumley (R-Greenville, Spartanburg)
A son of Confederate veterans, Chumley said the issue of the flag didnt need to be discussed further, as it was decided in a 2000 compromise to move the flag from the Statehouse dome to the Capitol grounds. This needs to go no further, he told the Post. It has been settled already. A compromise is a compromise.

So who's surprised they're all Repubs? And why don't any bring up the fact that that 'heritage' they're so proud of is sedition? Oh, and since when do Repubs want anything to do with compromise (Rep Chumley)?
And I bet they all call their seditiously-proud selves 'patriots.'

The teaparty, republican party, rightwing, wants ALL minority groups to either leave the country or become legally 2nd class citizens.
Including Women.
Since the laws and decisions and public attitude is slowly working against them, they will certainly become more and more violent.
These are drastically immature, childish, mean, ugly assholes, beware.

(52,829 posts)I know that men can give birth at really old ages but still, to be the son of a veteran of that war a person would have to be at least 80 and none of those people look to be 80.
There is an organization called "Sons of the Confederacy" or some such thing. It's the same deal as "Daughters of the American Revolution." Not real clear form the article, though.

(6,409 posts)If Chumley lived 170 years ago, he might think it was a compromise if plantation owners agreed to sell misbehaving slaves, instead of killing them outright. What a nice man!

(61,085 posts)What about their heritage? What about what that symbol means to them? What about the tyranny that flag represents?
These selfish pigs think nothing of those their forefathers enslaved.
