Yeah, that means you! YOU made this great day possible, by avoiding candidates with established track records of advocating for the little people. And here we are.
Checkmate, schmucks*!
And now that Republicans are my besties, we can finally work together to strengthen those damned entitlements that you people think you're entitled to.
*Attention jury: please don't believe the non-Yiddish-speaking fool who alerts when I use the word schmuck, claiming it's the worst imaginable insult ever in history. Just click the link above to find out more about it's actual usage.

Wish I still had my Adobe Creative Suite functioning on my laptop that needs upgrading. Need to buy a newer upgrade since the old one would only run under compatibility mode not supported in the newer OS's... Unfortunately can't qualify for a student discount any more though!
One of many things I need to do to get caught up on things again.

Betcha Obama sends it back and makes them re-vote without that in there.

(3,284 posts)"TPP must be OK because Obama supports it."
Real deep thinking.
I voted for Obama twice, but I can see the ugly reality that he enthusiastically supports something that will harm millions of Americans while enriching the top few percent.
And we end up arguing with fellow-Progressives who insist on looking thru rose-colored glasses,
because they just can't deal with being seriously wrong about Obama's pro-elite economic policy vision.
It's awful, isn't it?

Hmm... I wonder how long that will last before a ISDS court will help TransCanada sue us for lost profits if we don't go ahead and install it? See how this works? That "accomplishment" was window dressing that is WORTHLESS now with what he just did that has TransCanada and companies laughing behind the scenes at the "fast one" Obama pulled on us to have us feel that he's on our side!

(7,830 posts)implemented by Nixon when he wanted to shove through a really bad trade deal. Many trade deals have gone through congress without it, because they didn't suck for Americans. NAFTA, for example, did suck & needed TPA to pass through congress. Obama waited until he had his Republican majority before even attempting TPA for his corporate TPP, which we'll be able to see now, but not make any changes to before it goes for an up or down vote.
Cryptoad

(14,255 posts)Oh, and the treaty has been negotiated. They have been negotiating for some time. The Fast Track is wanted by Obama right fucking now so that the TPP can be slid right through Congress, no changes.
Are you really trying to sell that, that the TPP has not been negotiated yet? Or do you not understand what Fast Track is for? It is not so negotiations can start. That part has been done, by the corporations, mostly. It is so the finished agreement can be K_Y Jellied right past our system of government checks and balances.
BeanMusical
(4,389 posts)many of the major countries refused to negotiate until fast track is approved..... only the process of negotiation has been defined,,,,,,
djean111
(14,255 posts)Congress is allowed to look at, but not take notes on? You are saying that the TPP will not include the leaked parts we have seen? That the TPP is just now starting to be negotiated? That those in Europe concerned about the TTIP are also upset about a non-existent agreement? That folks in other TPP countries who are objecting to this are delusional Obama-haters?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Pacific_Partnership
The proposed agreement began in 2005 as the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPSEP or P4). Participating countries set the goal of wrapping up negotiations in 2012, but contentious issues such as agriculture, intellectual property, and services and investments have caused negotiations to continue into the present,[7] with the last round meeting in Ottawa from 312 July 2014.[8][9] Implementation of the TPP is one of the primary goals of the trade agenda of the Obama administration in the United States of America.

(449 posts)And when you default on the Milk Backed Securities (MBS) for your seven cows held in escrow, the bought-and-paid-for U.S. government will bail you out by taking an equity stake in your dairy farm so that you may continue to reap huge bonuses while everyone else suffers. After the government sells you your eight cows back, you can successfully sue the taxpayer for "milk" gotten gains.

(9,289 posts)ignores the concerns of POC, LGBTs and women. Regrettably he has been suggesting that POC, women, LGBTs, and immigrants are dividing us, and that their issues are divisive and so should be set aside in favor of the economic issues that can unite all but the 1%. He is blind to the fact that no economic progress can be made without first addressing issues of racism and sexism. Yes, his record on those issues is stellar, and he has consistently spoke about those issues, but that's the problem: he needs to speak TO these communities and not just ABOUT them. It is hard to avoid the conclusion that he sees POC and women through the lens of white privilege and male privilege, and that is why he has been downplaying their concerns. Clinton has evolved on these issues and so enjoys greater support among minority communities and women. Bernie appears to be stuck in the past, too sheltered perhaps in his nearly all-white state of Vermont. That being said, I should point out that I am a Bernie supporter.

(5,178 posts)The more one works and invests in one, the less care the other receives. For every action, there is a reaction.
Thanks to science, we know that increased action today means immeasurable amounts of suffering being heaped on the next generations. For as long as they can hold out, and as long as they want to, in a world devoid of so many things "corporate liberals" pay lip service too today, like caring about the hungry or the natural world. They will claim to really love and care for animals, but just like Republicans and our own children, only when they are babies and only in cutest of staged photos.
All that corporate money flowing so freely through the hands of our elected officials. It is how they are able to build coalitions against change, against progress, all that sweet Wall St money. It is how they so generously fund think tanks, it is how they fund racists, it is how they start wars for cash against the worlds poorest in all our names.
This is just another evolutionary step in our ever rightward shift. It is why today, Ronald Reagan and his backers would be so overjoyed to see the culmination of all their dreams in the hands of our "corporate liberal" President.
Today is a beautiful day in the memory and honor of Milton Friedman, Alan Greenspan and those who hold so much more in common with them, than they do with the commons.
