A homeless hero stopped a sex assault in the East Village — and then chased down the suspect for cops, police sources said.
The victim, a 26-year-old Manhattan woman, w as walking past 24 E. 7th Street just before midnight Sunday when the creep approached from behind.
He poked her buttocks and wrapped his arms around her, the sources said. She struggled with him briefly, then broke free and ran into the street, where he allegedly grabbed her again.
At that point the good-Samaritan vagrant, who is believed to sleep in nearby Cooper Square, came by and scared off the attacker, sources said. He then ran after the man, pursuing him for several blocks down Second Avenue to East Third Street, where police made the arrest.
The suspect, Casey Holloway, 32 — who is also homeless — was charged with sexual abuse and forcible touching, cops said. He has nearly two dozen prior arrests.
