Astonishment.
Capstone speech.
Perfection distilled.
I ain't no fanboy, as you all well know ... but the eulogy delivered just now by President Obama was pretty much the most remarkable bit of oratory I have been privileged to witness.
Amazing grace.

Evidently doesn't understand free speech or logic either.
Great post, Will!
The man that gave this eulogy is the man I voted for, twice. Yesterday, he was the perfect President

joshcryer
(62,536 posts)You choose to defend someone who insults, I defend people who I think are hurt by insults.
And then you derisively post about not even caring about the people at the other end of the keyboard for "holding on to something so trivial."

(9,512 posts)about the President. However, some can't see past a comment made months ago and choose to hang onto that instead of agreeing that today was a great day. In other words, they find that settling a score is more important than agreement.
There's more important things in life than Democratic Underground like your family. Have a nice evening.

Obama is my President, I voted for him, and he is the best President of my memory, and will probably be one of U.S. history's greats.
My first Presidential vote was for Carter.
I knew from the beginning that Reagan was a venal sock-puppet idiot savant who'd say anything, very sincerely, for a blow job and money, and he just got worse as his mind failed.

(17,462 posts)I adore him, he's not perfect, bows to the inevitability of corporate dominance too much, but maybe that's all we deserve as a people until we elect a better, less corrupt congress and until we get a much smarter, more literate electorate.
Considering the constraints and realities of politics in.America today, I'm not sure he isn't as good as it can get in this era. We've got to pry loose the corporate claws that are wrapped around the throats of the congress and the media, and the American people need to get less stupid.
Maybe Bernie will take it a step further. That would be very awesome. But Obama has had many successes in SPITE OF having corporate gatekeepers that he seems obligated to pacify with every decision he makes. Just reawakening the idea that government can take action that improves the lives of ordinary people with the passage of the flawed-but-still-useful ACA was a powerful win. I wanted single-payer..but ACA did in fact help millions of real ordinary people AND it was politically helpful to the left.
