I'm glad I found out in time - I was wondering if Bernie folks would be there. I was going to be marching with PFLAG but I also wanted to see the start - the Dykes on Bikes and the Grand Marshalls. PFLAG has an early place in the march. Now I can do both - w. people for Bernie.

or were they people who had been enlightened all along, but who were apologizing for the fact that jerks had used their religion as an excuse to abuse LGBT people?

If they were people who had actually learned they'd been wrong and had become better, that would be more wonderful than if they were people who had supported LGBT rights all along. I suspect, though that most, perhaps all, of them have been enlightened for a long time.

That they've been given permission to be less judgmental by the new pope.
There's been a serious disconnect within Catholic Church over the message of love and a message of being judgmental. A war of ideas. It wouldn't take much for some of these people to give up the attitude of condemnation. They aren't taught to hate other people, ever.

I cried so much at the parade it was ridiculous. The emotions were running high all over. But the jubilation took over and everything was absolutely amazing. I will post pictures later today
