Why the Media is screwing this nation.....politically....

Because they make a boat load off campaign advertising....the more divisive the political climate the more money the mediacos make. It is in the handful of media companies best interest to ensure that reporting and spin is done to create tension between the political parties....it is a self feeding loop...without meaningful campaign finance reform and limits on advertising then the political climate will continue to be dramatically split.

The media no longer cares about the center. They found playing the poles was better for the bottom line.

The real back story on this election cycle is the vast amount of money ending up in the hands of a five or six major media conglomerates.

1. They still define the center, usually by moving the political framework to the Right.

It isn't just about advertising revenues, it's about the opinion-shaping function of the corporate media. TV Network news has been a loss leader for decades, but serves a "higher" purpose of keeping the American people marching off to new wars and feeding government contractors, as well as lining up to buy the latest toys and pills.

2. Big time. Also....

... they have interests in mil/defense, healthcare, food industry, entertainment industry, etc. etc. The conflicts of interest are endless. They will defend their profits in all their various divisions no matter what, first and foremost. That means supporting illegal wars if they stand to make profits in mil/defense divisions, etc. They will promote an inhumane, unethical and immoral for-profit health care system if they stand to make profits in their health products divisions, and so on.

In addition to the fortune they make on political advertising, that's another factor. Like the banks, the media needs to be broken up and prevented from owning interests in mil/ind + media, etc.

I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. We KNOW who runs this country. And it ain't us!

3. I have been saying this for years

Every election cycle the MSM belly up to the trough of campaign funds and gorge themselves. The ideological split we are told exists in our nation is a myth perpetrated for profit.
The "Golden Rule" is more accurately "Follow the Money!".
