Contemplating History

. . . wonderful juxtaposition of George Healy's 1869 portrait of Abraham Lincoln, taken by the artist from his work, 'The Peacemakers,' completed in 1868 -- for which Lincoln actually posed for sketches in 1864 -- and our nation's first African-American First Lady.
