Fox News thinks their audience are a bunch of idiots..

..and to a large extent, the true believers, ARE idiots.

Fox News doesn't respect their audience, as evidenced by their fraudulent reporting and then trying to pass themselves off as a "news" organization.

It really is a big f**k you to anyone who looks to this organization for REAL news. They hate their audience. They see them as a bunch of gullible rubes whose only purpose is to be foot soldiers for stupidity and the interests of the greedy.

I know this isn't a newsflash to those of you here on DU but I just had to get this off my chest.

5. Faux Fills Their Watchers with That Good Ole Religion

My MIL watches Faux religiously (deliberate wording) and has drunk their brand of KoolAid. For Xmas, she asked for and received a copy of O'Reilly's book on Lincoln. After swallowing the bile that rose up my gullet, I smiled, and said " There are lots of factual errors in the book, but I am sure, you'll realize which they are" (gawd, I am ever the diplomat) She looked back at me, and snapped "I won't be looking for them". That sentence spoke volumes.
The average Faux watcher doesn't care if they are being fed lies- they react on a viseral level, they are not using logic, or reason. Like with religion, the suspend logic and reason in order to believe, and Faux knows that. They treat them much the way they are treated in churches across America- they are taught NOT to THINK, but to listen, feel and react!

Studies suggest faux news watchers are less informed than other people because faux news not only has no news, but simply gives out false information. However studies suggest since conservatives come from generally higher income classes they tend to be better educated than liberals as an overall group. This leads to the total enigma that faux news watchers aren't just a bunch of idiots. They tend to be as a group people that could think if they wanted to but apparently don't want to anymore. Faux news takes intelligent people and turns them into idiots. And people willfully do it to themselves, AMAZING.

I feel dumb just by watching the few second clips they show of "Fox & Friends" on the Daily Show.

10. Poll: Fox News Viewers Less Informed Than Those Who Read No News
Wed May 16, 2012, 02:00 PM
May 2012

Get this: Fox News is — gasp! — not all that informative, according to Fairleigh Dickinson University’s latest PublicMind poll.

The poll — which asked New Jerseyans where they find news and information about current events — found that Sunday morning news shows are the most informative, while Fox News actually leads people to be less informed than those who consume no news at all.

The poll focused partly on popular uprisings in Egypt and Syria. Asked whether the people of Egypt successfully topped Hosni Mubarak’s regime, 49 percent of Fox News viewers answered “yes” — the lowest on the scale — while 68 percent of NPR listeners answered in the affirmative, the highest on the scale.

Those who watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart performed well on the questions. Sixty percent of Daily Show viewers correctly answered that opposition forces in Syria have not yet toppled the government, second only to NPR. Forty-five percent of Fox News viewers answered “no.”
