A putsch in Athens to save allied Greece from enemy Russia is in preparation by the US and Germany, with backing from the non-taxpayers of Greece the Greek oligarchs, Anglo-Greek shipowners, and the Greek Church. At the highest and lowest level of Greek government, and from Thessaloniki to Milvorni, all Greeks understand what is happening. Yesterday they voted overwhelmingly to resist. According to a high political figure in Athens, a 40-year veteran, what is actually happening is a slow process of regime change.
Until Sunday afternoon it was a close-run thing. The Yes and No votes were equally balanced, and the margin between them razor thin. At the start of the morning, Rupert Murdochs London Times claimed Greek security forces have drawn up a secret plan to deploy the army alongside special riot police to contain possible civil unrest after todays referendum on the countrys future in Europe. Codenamed Nemesis, it makes provision for troops to patrol large cities if there is widespread and prolonged public disorder. Details of the plan emerged as polls showed the yes and no camps neck and neck. Greek officers dont speak to the Murdoch press; British and US government agents do............
The Kremlin understands too. So when the State Departments Victoria Nuland (nee Nudelman; lead image, right) visited Athens to issue an ultimatum against breaking the anti-Russian sanctions regime, and the Anglo-American think-tanks followed with warnings the Russian Navy is about to sail into Piraeus, the object of the game has been clear. The line for Operation Nemesis has been that Greece must be saved, not from itself or from its creditors, but from the enemy in Moscow. The Russian line has been to do nothing to give credence to that propaganda; to wait and to watch.
As the head of States Bureau of European and Eurasian affairs, Nuland is the official in charge of warmaking in Europe. Her record in the Ukraine has been documented here. Almost unnoticed, she was in Athens on March 17 to deliver two ultimatums. The communique released by the US Embassy in Athens was headlined, we want to see prosperity and growth in Greece...............

and yes this is a huge difference between Bernie Sanders and establishment democrats such as Clinton and Obama . Bernie will respect democracies that elect lefty governments and won't try to overthrow them because wallstreet and the neocons don't like them.
Bernie has praised the Greek people and the referendum results.

(101,316 posts)A long article, that boils down to "the American government has not said much about Greece - just a few noncommittal 'we hope it turns out OK' noises; therefore it is plotting a coup against Syriza".
What worries me is that 'Yves Smith' reprinted it. She's not normally so unhinged as this.

That's not the Obama administration saying that; and neither it is contemplating a coup (though it does regard Syriza as 'hard left'). It has a lot of painting of Russia as a bogeyman, but its conclusion is:

(13,685 posts)The EU has to kiss Greece's ass. So why are is the EU being such jackals and wanting to make Greece suffer?
But then, hey, Europe was the scene of the last world war, what with their petty politics, and banksters starving poor people.

(1,967 posts)and this administration has done coups. Honduras and the Ukraine come to mind. Their supporters are openly supporting a coup against the elected Venezulan government.

(1,967 posts)The Ukraine and Honduras are good examples, of coups this administration supported. Heck half the belittlers here openly supported the Ukrainian coup, so why the pretense?

(1,967 posts)They are historically, and culturally Russian, so yeah i support them. Putin is besides the point.
Only proves that Obama doesn't respect the democratic will, when it conflicts with his foreign or economic objectives.
And it proves him and his supporters support coups.
How is that a conspiracy theory?

(1,967 posts)What are your suspicions?
Obama has praised Robert Kagan too, and she couldn't get a job if he didn't approve of it. He has always been dishonest about his real foreign policy views. His mentor was Joseph Lieberman. He basically gave up the ball on Iraq to push on the rest of the PNAC agenda.
tularetom
(23,664 posts)That was precisely what I suspected.
I don't think Obama has a strong interest in foreign policy, at least the military aspects of it. He seems awfully comfortable with taking the word of his appointees on those matters, even when it has come back to bite him in the ass.

Have no clue what your implying.
Sounds like your saying she is just an old lady, which is kind of sexist and agest. She has got a long history in Washington as a neoconservative, a member of the PNAC, a supporter of the Iraq war and Regime Change. She is the Secretary State, and the fact that the Democrats appointed her has terrible implications about their foreign policy preferences.

(45,319 posts)First off, nee refers to a name a person formerly had, Nuland's father was fairly well known and he used the name Nuland, married under that name and so he is Nuland nee Nudelman, but she is simply not.
Secondly the only reason to point to her father's original name is to point out that it is a Jewish name, and that is a toxic stinker of seriously gassy proportions. It's slimy and bigoted.
