they were fighting other than heritage, you see

A heritage of racism, slavery, rebellion and treason. That's the heritage that should be thought of when viewing that flag.

Because they just so happened to want to celebrate their "heritage" at the same time the Civil Rights movement was under way. Pure coincidence
