(75,480 posts)He points out stuff we should be worried about, but ALL doom and gloom? Hardly. If you really do listen to Thom regularly, you will know how optimistic he really is.

(45,251 posts)I've seen Bernie Sanders, whom Thom promotes, accused of this very same thing in GD: Primary. I've also seen threads in GD, where primary shit stirring is not supposed to occur, bashing someone else as a proxy for Bernie. Is this particular OP doing something like that? I really have no way of knowing. But, I've seen enough, today alone, to wonder.

(7,286 posts)BTW he quotes DU threads all the time. Ask Scuba
I think his show is the best on radio. He has the best and most informed callers and segments. He is very very smart and has well thought out positions
In fact there is a reason I think he quotes DU. There are a lot of similarities.
I love his show.
BTW his name is spelled THOM
hit the nail on the head with this point."he quotes DU threads all the time."

(14,524 posts)... The Thom Hartmann Show as you present yourself to be, would at a bare minimum, be able to spell his name correctly.
I suggest the Google machine when one is trying to appear to know what the fuck they are talking about when they really don't.

Our MSM is telling us to expect Fairy Dust "very soon now". That or they hate on immigrants. RT does neither and just because it has Russia in its name, that's better than Fox.

(45,251 posts)For some reason, every time someone here posts something about Mike Malloy, my knee jerk is that it's about Martin O'Malley. No clue why, except a lot of common letters of the alphabet. We all have a misfire now and again. Nothing for you to blush about. I only wish I could post like you do. So, just take a bow.

AZ Progressive
(3,411 posts)Thom, while he's very good in terms of economic progressivism, tends to talk about the same issues over and over, and increasingly has a tendency to court conspiracy theories and doom and gloom viewpoints, as well as sensationalism and wild viewpoints. I only sometimes hear his program to see his viewpoint on a certain subject, otherwise I stick to Norman Goldman (who has a tendency to mostly focus on the social issues and Republican bashing, as well as legal insight due to his legal background.)
Progressive radio has seemed to tire out. Mike Malloy is cynical, a pessimist, and loves religion bashing. Before Randi Rhodes retired, she was Obama's #1 cheerleader (and got way too annoying). I like Stephanie Miller, but she's usually too early in the west for me.

On Edit: Thom posts here, so if you read this, I hope you're not hurt that you just don't have The Look. Love your program!

Doom and gloom appeals to a small niche group of people. Everyone has a niche to fill, and that's his niche.
In a nation of 300+ Million people, a small niche can be a large audience.

(5,764 posts)I'll have to assume you've never listened to Thom Hartman.
Do you think stressing the importance of addressing the issue of global climate change and the contamination of our biosphere, is mere "doom and gloom"? It has been clear to me for some time, that a lot of 'liberals' and Democrats are closet denialists, when it come to climate issues.
