Calif. Drought: "Water District Confirms Tentative Settlement In Tom Selleck Water Dispute"

Actor Tom Selleck has reached a tentative settlement with a water district over allegations he stole truckloads of water during California’s historic drought.

The Calleguas Municipal Water District in Ventura County claimed Selleck was siphoning water from a Thousand Oaks hydrant to his Hidden Hills Valley Ranch, a 60-acre ranch where he grows avocados.

I didn't know this was going on—what a selfish, sleaze ball Selleck is.

2. Actually they hired a PI to follow the truck that kept filling up at their hydrant. It was Selleck

Stealing water for his place. Apparently he feels his needs are greater than the peasants.
But rather than PAY for it, he sent a tanker truck to refill at a hydrant.

Ain't he something 'special'?

Does anybody think that Tom Selleck himself hopped in a water truck, unscrewed the hydrant, and filled it up.

I doubt it. I doubt he owned the truck.

He probably paid a company to deliver water (perfectlly legal), and that company broke the rules, and should be the ones getting the heat.

"The problem isn't just that there's a drought going on but that Selleck has no rights to the water he is allegedly trucking in: Selleck lives in the Hidden Valley Municipal Water District. In November 2013, the water district sent cease-and-desist letters to Selleck's home and his Avenue of the Stars address, court papers say. But the water truck was spotted filling up and delivering water to his state four days in a row in March 2015."

Selleck is handcuffed and taken to the local jail where he is booked and finger printed. Then he calls a lawyer who bails him out. Then he faces a judge just like any other fucking thief.

He stole some water for his dying avocado garden...what next, the guillotine for stealing tomatoes from a convenience store?

Has no one any compassion for the innocent avocados?

...don't you believe it is worse to steal because you want to than because you have to??? They're three-striking poor people for convenience store thefts and your compassion is saved for this entitled fuck? His avocado garden was dying?????

Hmmm-I wonder if multiple truckloads represent multiple strikes???

That may be what's going on here with people defending him in such a strange fashion.

Stealing a resource we should all be sharing evenly is pretty much the definition of capitalism. There are people in the central valley who haven't had running water for three years. Fuck his avocados.
