..even if in the long run...

.1. everyone in this country would be healthier
2. Recieve better and more complete medical coverage
3. Over all costs for medical practices and health in this country would go way down
4. A National disgrace would be ended.

I believe that insurance companies can handle it better..but, I know that is a lie.

without regulation, they can extract the benefits of a process that pollutes without paying the costs of pollution because there's no mechanism for the victims of their pollution to charge them for it. certainly not beforehand, and afterwards it is very complicated and of course they fight that through "tort reform".

they also know that the market doesn't value risk properly and that people were content to be in cars without safety belts for a long time because they didn't understand the risks and didn't properly charge carmakers for making unsafe vehicles.

THIS is the bulk of how the super-rich make their money. NOT from providing honest goods at and honest price for an honest profit.

anything re-redistribute it. Remember, it's the other way around from their argument: it ISN'T their money. They have OUR money.

I just tell them that the debt is a measure of how much the rich have stolen from us. If you want to reduce the deficit & eventually the debt, start scaling down the size of the thefts with regulation & the tax code.

form of higher premiums companies use to cover the uninsured. Cover the uninsured and make a profit of that too, I mean.

Thanks to our Corporate system of health care in this country 40,000 people (most of the working class) die every year for lack of treatment.

To Republicans that is not a fiasco...it's just the cost of doing business.

10. I love the "I'm not paying for other's" line!

My wing-nut mother and her husband(not my father and don't consider him my stepfather either) are totally against having their money go to anyone or anything they don't agree with. It's the universal selfish gene all cons share. My mom didn't know how to respond to my question of how she liked her private insurance premiums paying for other's care. I had to explain the whole "risk pool" concept to her for her to get the idea. The very funny thing is now that they winter in Texas from Pennsylvania, they've twice gone to Mexico for "cheaper but just as good" health care procedures! Total frickin hypocrites!!!

There are days you pay for "their healthcare" and days when the "pay for your healthcare".

In a nationalized non-profit system 47% of the time you are paying for them and 47% of the time they are paying for you. The missing 6 percent goes to administration.

In a for-profit system 40 percent of the time you are paying for them, and 40 percent of the time they are paying for you, and 20 percent of the time you are paying salaries, the CEO, and dividend checks to the stock holders.

Now you could gamble on handling it all your self and hope to die suddenly with minimal healthcare costs (say getting run over by a bus), but chances are you would lose that bet, and winning it is no prize either.
