(27,985 posts)It is time we, as a nation, have a real conversation. We need to discuss institutionalized racism. The #AllLivesMatter campaign isnt about having that discussion. Its about not having that discussion.
The #AllLivesMatter campaign is narcissistic and blind. Its about inserting ones own agenda. Case in point, this Blaze columnist who made it about abortion. Yes, really.
This particular fight is about one thing and one thing only. Its about the fact that unarmed black men are being killed by the people who are supposed to protect them. Its about the fact that to society, black people are far more disposable. Young black people are treated as convicts-in-waiting. These facts are a societal sickness and to treat that sickness would be to help save white lives as well.
Maybe white people would be a bit more understanding if the campaign was #BlackLivesMatterAsMuchAsWhiteLives, but thats hardly pithy. Really, though, thats all black people are saying. Their lives are as important as white lives and if you want to shut down that discussion, we will never grow as a country and people of all races will continue to die unnecessarily.

(111,052 posts)In the inner city, with poverty and crime, with theft and violence, with lack of education and opportunity, without employment, without food or shelter?
Or in a middle-class suburb, with nice lawn, and full bellies, and nice cars, and a good job?
Where are you most likely to get shot and killed?
One is more likely to drown in the middle of an ocean than running thru a sprinkler in the back yard.
Black lives matter because they are caught in this crossfire.
We need to change the environment if we want to change the reality.

(14,733 posts)They have to learn to listen to the people they want to vote for them, and to communicate back with them to let them know they WILL work for those voters on the things that matter most TO those voters.
