I did not know whether to post in the Disability, or the Seniors, or the Boomers, or ..whatever group, so am asking here.
We need to buy one of those "graspers" ( I don't even know what to call them) that allow you to extend your reach into cupboards, shelves, floor, etc and grab light items like a can of beans, or spice bottle, or water glass, or pick up an errant shoe.
Actually, the floor is pretty much covered because I have trained our Goldie to pick up anything we point to, but the darn dog is not tall enough to reach into the cabinets.
We need a quality one.
Any suggestions/experience with those would be very helpful.
Heck, even the name of the tool would be helpful.
UPDATED: Thanks for helping with the suggestions and esp.what to call it.
I think I am going to go with this one on Amazon. It has rubber tipped edges.

(147,077 posts)You'll find many, in a number of price ranges. The word "Grabber" will find them almost anywhere such things are sold. You can also find them in many Walgreens, CVS store, Target and other retailers that have medical supplies sections.
Hope that helps!
ETA, some places find more with the seach term "Reacher"

(5,815 posts)Depending what you're looking for, an adjustable length may be the right fit for you. Here's a solid one:

Below the listing, you'll see alternative suggestions. Those are all pretty decent prices for what you're after.

(55,508 posts)they tend to be like cheap reading glasses, better to have several around as they will always be in the wrong room or lost period. also that lets you see which are most useful. I like the ones with little suction cups on the end, they tend to be able to even pick up pennies.
I even keep one in the truck for picking up beer cans and other trash along the dirt roads here on the ranch. yes I tend to be a tad lazy, and I am not getting out to pick up a gross beer can that might be full of snuff by-product.
I can open the door, grab the can, dump it and toss it in the back without having to get out of the truck.
