Has anyone else seen the horrible, nasty, disrespectful "letter" that some hateful bitch wrote complaining that the President "scampered" right down to Charleston but is "ignoring" Chattanooga?
I am NOT going to link to it, but can folks here provide some of the reasons that the President has visited Chattanooga?
If I see this bullshit again, I'd like to provide a reasoned response - I suspect that Charleston was easier because there was one site and all those impacted were in one place. Not sure where he should GO in Chattanooga.
Unfortunately, instead of doing a Thom Hartmann, and engaging rationally, I just said "This bitch is disrespectful" and unfriended the poster (a fellow dog rescuer, who needed to be unfriended due to the amount of religious claptrap posts she puts up). Not my finest hour of rational debate.

(16,286 posts)Your response should simply be:
"NOTHING Obama can do will satisfy you, because you are a racist."
Arguing details with vile and filthy racists is a waste of time
I am serious, btw. I never argue with them about the issue at hand because they will NEVER support him NO MATTER what.
Don't waste your time.

(11,816 posts)Since I un-friended.
But that argument won't work in this situation because of the whole We Worship The Troops thing. The gist of the letter, to my mind, was "He can go to Charleston after some useless black people were shot, but why hasn't he been rolling on the ground rending his clothes over the death of five of Our Beloved Troops? What kind of a monster prefers black people to Our Beloved Troops"
(Hey - all respect to the people who fight for our country, but this Troop Worship thing has gone WAY too far)

(11,816 posts)It's a shame, but it's just so awful I can't post it. I'm sure you'll see it coming around if you have any Teabag relatives or colleagues.

I know I will do with that what I usually do, ignore it.
There is no use in arguing since structural racism is baked into the cake. What we must do is not work to change these folks, you can't. But to change the structure that supports the hate.
By the way, you also hit on an important point, some of these folks do indeed worship the troops, never bring to them the VA though, or homelessness among vets.
But one word in your post might bring some folks who will try to derail it. Word to the wise.

(3,182 posts)they were STATIONED in Chattanooga.
President Obama attended the funerals in the hometown of the Charleston victims.
I'm quite certain a representative from his office will also attend the troop funerals in THEIR hometowns.

(11,816 posts)I was sure there was a reason other than "disrespect".
Ugh. I'm sure this thing will come around to you eventually. Maybe you can calmly explain that to whoever sends it to you. Now 8if I can keep my temper, I'll have something sane to say if anyone else posts it.
It was one of those things that was so bad I was shaking after I finished reading it.
