Updated July 24, 11:54 a.m. EDT: Hulk Hogan has issued an apology via People magazine:
Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.

According to RadarOnline and the National Enquirer, Hogans racist tirade came during a 2012 sex tape with the wife of a former friend. Hogan, who is currently suing Gawker over the release of the tape, went on a tirade when he discovered that his daughter Brooke was dating a black man.
She is making some real bad decisions now, Hulk said on the tape. My daughter Brooke jumped sides on me. I spent $2-3 million on her music career; Ive done everything like a jackass for her.
I dont know if Brooke was f--king the black guys son, Hulk said regarding a black music producer who offered to fund Brookes music career. I mean, I dont have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f--king n--gers. But then when it comes to nice people and s--t, and whatever.
But he wasnt finished. The wrestler went on to say exactly what type of n-word hed rather she be with.
I mean, Id rather, if she was going to f--k some n--ger, Id rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n--ger worth $100 million! Like a basketball player! I guess were all a little racist. F--king n--ger, the racist wrestler lamented.

(19,582 posts)With that said, Terry Bollea is a bonifide racist. He does not want his daughter dating a black unless he has tons of money for her to live off of. The black male only serves the purpose of providing (serving) his little brat with material goods.
Slave master mentality. No wonder he was so offended when Obama said "you didn't build that".

Fortune.com:
An audio tape in which Hulk Hogan uses vile language to describe black men is bad news for the wrestling star, who on Friday lost a three-decade contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. But it may bring good news for Gawker Media.
The embattled gossip site is facing a $100 million privacy lawsuit from Hogan over a sex tape and, last week, incurred widespread condemnation over a separate story involving an unnamed male escort trying to blackmail an executive at a major media company. The decision to publish and then remove the article prompted an internal meltdown at Gawker and also led some to suggest it would hurt the companys chances with a jury in the Hogan case.
Now, the racist rant could help support Gawkers defense: First, that Hogan is a public figure. Second, that the website had a First Amendment right to publish a short clip of the sex tape to prove its existence, and because Hogans behaviorincluding his having sex with the then-wife of a minor celebrityis newsworthy. The woman in the tape is Heather Clem, who was at time married to Hogans friend, a Florida DJ known as Bubba the Love Sponge.
This does not, of course, mean Gawker will prevail at the jury trial...But for now the release of the Hogan outburst is an unexpected boost for Gawker in one of its darkest hours.

(45,008 posts)Gawker is suing the FBI to obtain documents related to the FBIs investigation into a Hulk Hogan sex video after the agency denied the publishers Freedom of Information Act request. Gawker contends that the FBIs investigation is significant to its defense as it prepares to battle Mr. Hogan and his attorneys.
Mr. Hogan is suing Gawker for $100 million after an October 4, 2012 post on the site, which included edited video of the mustachioed wrestler having sex with Heather Clem, the then wife of radio shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge Clem (yes, his legal name). Mr. Hogan alleged that Gawker violated his right to privacy by publishing the tape, which was filmed without his knowledge in 2006 (a separate lawsuit against Bubba the Love Sponge for surreptitiously filming the wrestler was settled in 2012 and Bubba apologized on his radio show).
Gawker claims that the sex tape was newsworthy and protected under the First Amendment, as Mr. Hogan is a celebrity who had previously publicized his own sex life...As noted in the document, the government intends to retain possession of this evidence pending the outcome of the case...

(14,912 posts)ALL a little racist, in our own ways, to a point. Blacks, Whites, Latinos, etc. Sometimes it's a learned response, other times people do it without even realizing... like the woman who clutches her purse tighter and crosses the road when she sees a group of Black, Latino or even White "biker looking" men coming towards her.
For me, it was a learned response. I was born and raised in Miami until I was 12 1/2 years old. I went to a very diverse set of schools from Kindergarten until the middle of 7th grade. I had friends who were white, black, mexican, cuban, italian, puerto rican and guatemalan. I never thought of them as anything other than friends, and people I went to school with. I went to 4 different schools in 7th grade: 2 in Miami, 1 in a *very* small town in NC that had no black people and no latino people. 100% white! I finished 7th grade at East Brainerd Jr High in Chattanooga. Plenty of blacks and latinos there! I guess the Principal, a black lady, only had my transcripts from the school in NC because she pulled me to the side and said "We have black people and spanish people here, will that be a problem for you?" I said "No Ma'am, I grew up in Miami and went to school with them most of my life! I was only at that school in NC for a couple of months". She said "okay, that's good to know!"
During the summer between 7th & 8th grades, we bought a house and moved to the town I live in now, as it was much closer to my dad's job at the Nuke Plant. I started 8th grade here, and stayed until I graduated. We had 3 black kids in the whole school, which ran from Kindergarten through 12th grade! A week after graduating, I moved back to Miami because I hated it here! They rolled up the sidewalks in town and closed everything down at 6 PM!
While back in Miami, over the course of 2 years, I was robbed at gunpoint 3 times in broad daylight. All 3 times by black men. My house was broken into twice, both times by black men, witnessed and reported by neighbors. We used to go into "black town" to score a little weed or coke, and several times had money snatched out of our hands and the black guy took off running. I started taking my pitbull with me, laying down in the back of the truck, and she would stand up and growl when the dealers started to swarm the truck. It got to where only 3 different guys would even come to my truck and my dog would never move. She trusted them, and so did I. I never got ripped off again, either! The 3 times that I was robbed at gunpoint, I was minding my own business, not doing any kind of deals. 2 times I had just come out of the store, and as near as I could figure, there was someone in line who saw me pull out my money to pay for my purchase and followed me out. the other time, I was just sitting at a red light and they guy came out of nowhere and stuck a gun in my face, demanding my wallet. I gave it to him, then he said something about my car keys, and I had gained presence of mind by then and just punched the gas pedal to the floor! Ain't NO WAY IN HELL that he was getting my '73 SS Camaro!! So yeah, I took on a jaded view and became suspicious of ANY black person.
Another time, I was car-jacked, robbed, pistol-whipped, shot at and left for dead, or Gator food out in the middle of the Everglades in the middle of the night. This time it was 2 mexicans. I had just gotten off of work on 2nd shift and was going to the store to get a 12 pack of beer and saw a car on the side of the road with the hood up. I had to get to the store before it closed and told myself that I would stop to see if they needed any help if they were still there when I came back through. Sure enough, they were still there. I was driving an '87 Cadillac Sedan Deville, and they were in a nice late 60's model Chevy. I stopped, put my window down and asked if they needed any help, or a ride to a pay phone to call someone. The next thing I know, I have a knife to my throat and someone coming in the passenger door with a pistol pointed at my head. The guy with the knife jumped in the back seat and they guy with the gun just said "DRIVE!!". The next thing I know, the other car started up and began following us. I stayed calm and asked "where are we going?" Gunman points at the road leading out to the Everglades and says "That way". Then the guy in the back seat pulls out a crack pipe, and they started passing it back and forth. Trying to stay composed, and let them see me in a human light, I said "Are y'all having a private party with that, or are you going to let me hit it too?" One of them said "oh! The gringo wants to get high too, huh?" and they handed me the pipe. I hit it a couple of times, and was trying to start a conversation with them, telling them "you don't have to do this shit, man... I'll take you wherever you want to go" and stuff like that. Gunman finally says "you good and high, gringo??". I said "yes, thank you, where would you like to go now?". He said "well, this is your stop here". I stopped on the side of the road and they told me to get out. I don't mind saying that I was scared shitless, and wishing that I could get to the .45 I had locked in the glove compartment somehow, but knew it was impossible. Gunman hit me in the side of the head and face with the gun so hard that my knees buckled. The 'fight or flight" adrenaline kicked in, and I took off running into the gator filled swamp. They shot at me 3 times, and I fell like I had been hit, just for self preservation purposes. I knew they weren't going to wade out into the swamp themselves to look for me. They drove around the area for 10 - 15 minutes looking, but I stayed hidden and quiet and they finally left for good. It took me 3 hours to walk and find a house to knock on the door to have them call the cops for me...
I could go on, but have been writing for over 2 hours now I think, done lost track of time. i'm nodding out as I type now. I will probably add to this later, after I've slept some, as I was robbed a few more times, too.
My main point though, was to show that a pattern of events can make a person racist, without them knowing/realizing or feeling like a racist. it's like "well, events A, B & C all happened by a person "D", so all people "D" must be bad.
I hope my point is coming across clear, without offending anyone. I apologize in advance if it does offend anyone. If it does, please tell me and I will take the necessary steps to correct it after I've had some sleep.
Peace,

(14,912 posts)nothing BUT drug havens. Mostly in the Inner Cities when I lived in Miami. There were places in Overtown, Liberty City, South Beach & Coconut Grove that the cops wouldn't even go into after dark because they would get shot at by snipers on the roof tops, and in the upper level floors, of the Project Housing. Whole neighborhoods were taken over by drug dealing gangs, and the "good people" either moved away, or accepted money to look the other way. They had teens, and even pre-teens, working as look-outs for the "Po-Po" or the "FIVE-0!" The gangs would take over whole housing projects, whole neighborhoods and whole City blocks, but I'm the bad guy who is "disrespecting the good people there"? Like I said, the "good people" who stayed did so because they were PAID to look the other way. The "good people" who stayed and didn't take payoffs, and spoke out against the gangs and drug dealing were either run out, burned out.... or killed! But I'm the bad guy!?!?!
You're pretty funny! Will you be here all week, with a tip jar on the stage?? Please forgive me if I've offended you, but I speak from experience, and call it as I see it. They were known as "drug neighborhoods" for a reason! You could get anything you wanted, from a joint, to angel dust, and everything in between.. cocaine, heroin, crank, crack, acid or anything else, even Pharmaceuticals such as 'ludes, oxycodone, hydrocodone, vicoden, amphetamines, diluadid, morphine... you name it, *someone* had it! That's just the way it was, back in the 80's... and the way it STILL IS to this day. I have seen it in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville and even Nashville!

(102,012 posts)It's pretty sad that the only time you see white folks in predominately minority areas is when they are looking for drugs or sex. How would you feel if you lived there?

(14,912 posts)18 back in 1981 when I graduated and moved back to Miami. I actually stayed in NMB also, my grandparents lived in Ives Estates, 2 blocks from County Line Road.
You should be familiar with Opa-locka, Andover, Cooper City, Carver's Ranches and a few other areas that are well known "drug neighborhoods"
Considering the fact that the gangs took over those areas, *if* I lived there, it would mean that I was probably selling too, so I could honestly say that I would be glad to see people coming in. I *do* understand the point that you are trying to make, I just don't particularly agree with it. Afterall, it wasn't the "white man" who made these drug dealing gangs take over the neighborhoods and Govt. Housing Projects, was it?? That was their own doings, establishing their turf. *WE* didn't *FORCE* them into drug dealing and/or prostitution, did we?
I also lived in deep south Dade County, in Florida City, for several years.. right where the Florida Turnpike ended onto US 1, 18 miles from Key Largo. Right when you merged onto US 1, there was a red light. Turn right, going west, and it was Palm Drive, which was the road that divided Florida City into the North and South Sectors. US 1 divided East and West. Everything Northwest of Palm Drive was considered "colored town", and to the South was your whites, Italians and your migrant workers who worked the fields. We heard gunshots almost every night on the North side, and it was a well known drug neighborhood. If you were white, and a cop saw you pulling out of one of the side streets on the North side after dark, your ass was getting pulled over and searched. End of story. Even worse... if you were black, and were seen on the south side of Palm Drive at night, you were stopped and searched for possession of burglary tools. equal opportunity racial profiling at it's finest!!!
When I lived in Douglasville, Ga., I got pulled over one evening just because I was white, and was pulling out of a side road that went to a well known drug Projects. It just so happened that the Pre-K 4 and daycare that my kids were in was on the same road. The officer then noticed my kids strapped into their car seats and let me go. I had explained to him already that I had worked an hour late that day, and was late getting there to pick my kids up from daycare. I have also been pulled over and had sobriety checks done on me just because I have really long hair, beard, moustache and tattoos. I know for a fact that black people aren't the *only* ones who are racially profiled.
