Now why did her autopsy only take such a short time to be completed.
I'm not in the medical field, but ALL the cop shows on TV can't be wrong in that it takes a lot of time to complete one, especially one with unnatural causes.
AND, why did her parents agree to bury her and not get an autopsy from a pathologist of their own choosing???????????
At least she was not cremated.
Although, bodies can disappear and have, but that's a conspiracy theory better left to those with an avocation for such things.

(12,799 posts)Sandra Blands autopsy report was released in full on Friday, which will allow the second autopsy conducted at her familys request to move closer to completion.
Cannon Lambert, the familys attorney, told the Guardian that an independent autopsy was conducted last Saturday morning but has not yet been finished because part of it involves analysing the original autopsys results.

"We want to understand how it is that this kind of played out and what will end up ultimately being the cause of death," family attorney Cannon Lambert told ABC News.
The autopsy was ordered Sunday, and the results are expected within 48-72 hours, ABC News reports.

Edited to remove snippy/snarky-- "what are you talking about?" in my reply title. My sincere apologies to the OP.

(24,634 posts)On Lawrence O'Donnell's show on the July 22, 2015 guests, Sandra Bland's sister and family lawyer clearly stated that there has been a mistake made by the coroner. The family lawyer mentioned the texts on MSNBC:

This was further discussed on DemocracyNow:

As for her family, the videos above also discuss it but I will reiterate. They did do their own autopsy of the body before she was embalmed and buried.

(24,634 posts)One online search of a Sandra Bland's name lists exactly what this person was asking. If they were paying attention to the news, they would not need to even ask these questions.

(3,208 posts)I have never been in a jail cell, but why do they even put trash cans with bags in them? It's not like the people in there have a pantry to make food and build up trash.
Also, I read somewhere that Sandra Bland was pretty tall so hanging oneself would be pretty difficult.
We seem to hear of hangings in prison/jail often. It seems like the "powers that be" know how it happens and they could do something to prevent it.

(891 posts)Given by the DA said that the autopsy was completed and they still were awaiting toxicology results which would take an additional 2-3 weeks, but they were releasing the results they had right now. And the investigation was still ongoing.
The family attorney said they were getting an independent autopsy, but I don't know if they are going to release those results to the public.
I think we will be hearing more about all of this soon. Her funeral was today.

(31,940 posts)I witnessed scores of autopsies. All from unnatural causes. They don't take much time at all. Half hour to an hour. Yes, all the cop shows are wrong.

(31,940 posts)where I was at. It is the biggest ME office in the nation because so many people die of "unnatural causes" in Chicago and Cook county. There are bodies all over the place and autopsy techs run around going from one body to the next. They love to do commentary and jokes about the victims.

(3,937 posts)The whole room is lit in only a blueish light so dim that the light of the computer screens and scopes is the brightest thing. Very hard to see in that light and it is hard to see bruises or other trauma because everything looks blue.
Also since they are not wearing masks, hair nets or gloves they introduce a lot of foreign matter into the body so it takes longer of course because for hours they are like "oh I found a hair..maybe this is from the killer?...nope, that's another one of mine..."

(31,940 posts)with some testing equipment. The autopsy techs in that room were not familiar with me and they fled the room. I found out later that they thought I was there to test them for drugs...

(6,324 posts)It is first how busy and backed up the ME is. Odds are that's not the only case in the workload.
And second the waiting on lab results for toxicology and such.
Once they actually start work on the body it's usually just a couple hours. Then it's wait for lab results.
