Nurses bring biggest NATO protest so far to Daley Center

Thousands of nurses and other protesters were gathering for a rally Friday afternoon at the Daley Center Plaza in downtown Chicago ahead of the two-day NATO Summit, opening Sunday, that will bring President Barack Obama and other world leaders to the city for two days of talks.
Clad in red shirts and scrubs and green Robin Hood caps with feathers, nurses and other protesters marched across downtown to the Daley Center, where the gorup National Nurses United said it expected about 2,000 nurses.
Demonstrators, bused in from across the nation for the event, sang Taxing Wall Street to the tune of Dancing in the Street.
They are calling for a Robin Hood tax of 0.5 percent on financial institutions transactions to offset cuts in health care, social services and education. ...................(more)
