So about the anti semitism crap

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the General Discussion forum).

There are a few generations who have grown up without the anti-communist/anti-socialist crap.

But antisemitism has been around for thousands of years. And you just know that the fucking Republicans are going to squeeze out every bit of hatred that's left in that rag and will use it against Bernie.

How do we fight this filth? Are there still enough antisemites out there to make a difference if Bernie wins the nomination? I hope not. But I really don't know.

That a women and/or a Jew can get elected. That it is past time to discard racism and the Hate Machine that built it into a destructive force. Antisemites are just racists of another stripe.

We let words rule over our lives based on fear and hatred. So much so that now we have a few institutions run by delusional leaders. Take your pick of state or Leg body.

I suspect the vast majority of people who would respond positively to antisemitism are already voting for the Republican.

4. Bernie's record is solid

he's an American citizen of the Jewish faith. He is not an Israeli. He wants a 2-state solution, he opposed the Republican-inspired letter to Iran, he did not agree with the House when it sent an invitation to Netanyahu to address the assembly, and he did not attend when Netanyahu came to Washington, invited by Boehner, and instead, backed our President, who also did not attend. This has to be worked into an ad somehow.

This is something that bothers me deeply. I don't presently have any contact with Jewish people, but did many years ago, both as friends and as employers, and I liked them. Most if not all have died, some moved far away to CA.

There are anti-Semitic people who judge all Jews by the behavior of some (Koch's for one, Netanyahu for another), but I think there are enough gentiles and Jews who agree with Bernie that he can jump that hurdle. Kennedy did it with Catholics, who were another heavily prejudiced group.

Gee I hope he succeeds... My brain wants him, my heart wants Biden, and both of me think O'Malley is a good man too.

Everything you've said about Bernie is true.

However, antisemitism is not a political issue. It is one of hatred and it is a couple of thousand years old.

There are many who hate black people. And there are many who hate Jews.

It doesn't have anything to do with politics, nationalism, or even religion.
There are those who hate blacks because they were born black and there are those who hate Jews because they were born Jews. Both are ancient, irrational hatreds. And they never never seem to go away.

Perhaps, someday, the human species will become immune to this mental disease.

Honest? I'd be happy if they weren't...even Bernie doesn't like them - he mentions them in a lot of his speeches, followed by "oligarchy.

They're in bed with Scott Walker according to Rachel, and I don't know where I heard that they were Jewish, but I am relieved that I can now loathe them without feeling anti-Semitic. Thank you a lot.

Bernie always wants to disassociate himself with the Koch's. . . and that's why I got the idea. Just like when he didn't go to the Congress to hear Netanyahu...in my mind he set a pattern of "don't blame me."

15. I ran into my first we-don't-let-jews-join country club this week
Sat Aug 1, 2015, 06:28 PM
Aug 2015

It was in Michigan. I had heard it was a segregated club and frankly did not believe it. I went out and the membership chairman and I played a round (very nice course, sandy soil, width, low profile bunkers). After the round and I had gotten kinda drunk and I asked him, and he said they thought jews were not a good fit because they were not local and would bring their Chicago attitide. My Chicago attitude was fine I guess. And my Chicago checkbook.

I have been involved in this game for 33 years at this sitting. I have never run across a club that would not let in jews, until this week.
