Kirk voted with Dems. (His challenger is Tammy Duckworth in 2016).
Manchin & Donnelly voted with Reps.
McConnell voted no also, but only so he can bring it back for another vote.
I don't know who didn't vote.

This isn't about stopping abortions, so they can't give us their "pro-life" excuses here.
It's about either controlling women or pandering to those who want to do so.
And that has NO place in the Democratic Party.

(5,043 posts)Both my senators voted the right way, but I still sent them emails thanking them.
They need to hear from us when they do the right thing as well as when we're not thrilled.

(17,195 posts)... but I somehow doubt it will have anything to do with how the Senate does its voting.
I mean, can anyone imagine that a US senator could be so ignorant as to believe this bullshit, or driven by anything other than pure mendacity to vote for it?

(34,136 posts)They voted to defund it for at least three years after ACORN ceased to exist:
ACORNdefunct for 3 yearsis still being defunded by House Republicans
by Ian Reifowitz
Did you know that House Republicans really, really, really don't want any money going to the defunct organization known as ACORN?
Although last week's attempt to pass a bill funding the Transportation and Housing & Urban Development departments (THUD) landed with a, well, an acronym, it would have marked the 13th time the Republican-led House of Representatives passed a bill with language ensuring that no funds go to that organization.
You know ACORN, it's the scary, all-powerful group that tried to register low-income folks to vote and do other kinds of advocacy work for the poor. Republicans believe ACORN is so powerful that, at least according to a PPP survey, 49 percent of them think that ACORN stole the 2012 presidential election. This is down from the 52 percent of Republicans who thought ACORN stole the 2008 presidential election. Oh, did I mention that ACORN ceased to exist in 2010? I guess that fact accounts for the three percent drop from 2008 to 2012.
<SNIP>
This ridiculous Republican revisiting of ACORN's non-existing funding reminds me of that classic Saturday Night Live "Weekend Update" newscast where anchor Chevy Chase announces that Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead, so I've embedded it above for your viewing pleasure.

(19,564 posts)Now they're going to try and strip PP of funding via budget maneuvers, and state based legislation. It's a part of their 2016 plan to draw voters to the polls.

(53,661 posts)He would have stopped this, too. We must ensure one of our good candidates is in the Oval Office in January 2017.
The GOP set their Social Security timebomb to go off right after the 2016 election. If they don't take the White House, they will not be allowed to do it.
If they get in, there won't be any human rights left and SS and other things will be a distant memory. And they'll have restricted the vote so much a lot of people won't be able to vote.
They've been telegraphing their intentions for years and now are ramping it up. They want the same ALEC laws they've pushed through red states to be national. They'll redefine Constitutional amendment to set up fiefdoms.
Read the Koch brothers agenda to see what they are being paid to do. They have achieved most of their agenda through media and are on the home stretch.

(6,891 posts)there are certain matters that require you to vote the party line. Supporting women's health is one of those. If you vote with the fucking republicans on a party line vote you need to be gone. Period. But for the triangulating so called leadership of so called centrist democrats such assholes would never have been in the Democratic Party.

Susan Collins voted the party line and voted for defunding. She claims to be pro-choice but she is first and foremost a Republican. I get very annoyed when people claim that she is such a moderate. Pay attention to her votes, she is no better than the rest.
