(12,530 posts)Do media outlets write headlines like this to cater to their dumb audience, or do they write headlines like this because their editors are just as slack-jawed as a good portion of their readership? I don't know, but headlines like this bother me. We're losing the skill of being able to write with different degrees of formality. I find myself wondering if the end state will look like Idiocracy, with the written word consisting mostly of slang and abbreviations.
