Watch a 72-year-old Buzz Aldrin punch a jerk in the face for calling him a 'liar'
Buzz Aldrin: Famed astronaut, second man on the moon, and puncher of smug faces.
Sunday marks the 45th anniversary of the lunar landing unless, of course, it never happened and the government faked the whole danged thing to make America look super powerful at the height of the Cold War. Is that conspiracy theory likely? Probably not, though there are some who ardently believe in it.
Bart Sibrel is one of those lunar truthers. And back in 2002, he ambushed Aldrin outside a Los Angeles hotel and berated him about his supposed role in the hoax, asking him to swear on a Bible he landed on the moon and calling him a "liar" and a "coward." Offended that someone would question his integrity, and fed up with being pestered for so long, Aldrin finally snapped and socked Sibrel in the face.

(19,326 posts)Is this some kind of veiled threat of physical violence towards people whose views
you find objectionable?
If not this ^ then what?
Or am I completely misunderstanding your point here?

(6,419 posts)Now that you know you're safe and sound, could you please elaborate on how the Oligarchs micromanage US elections?

(19,326 posts)It's at top of the greatest page (or was) w/ 162 recs. You posted
your CT insinuations there too, so I know you've already seen it.
Don't let your terminal case of CT-phobia blind you too much, to
see a truth merely because it's painful or inconvenient for you.

(6,419 posts)Congrats on your greatest page accomplishment, maybe you can put it on your resume, but you never explained how this Oligarchy micromanages US elections. This is the most you have said:
Looking at these six recent developments alone, its clear that the Oligarchs have learned a thing or two about how to skillfully manipulate elections democracy be damned using their tools in the Clown Car, working in concert with the DNC, to insure that no 'political revolution' will be tolerated this time around, and that We the People will again face another sorry-ass choice in the GE between a lesser of two evils.
And yes, I am including Bill & Hillary Clinton as part of the Oligarchy. If Bill Clinton cozying-up alongside George W. Bush on the cover of Time magazine is not enough evidence of this one needs look no further than the Clintons net-worth to prove it.
It's "clear" to you, but not to the reader. The fact that the Clintons are rich is "evidence" to you. Doesn't that mean anyone who's rich is in on the plan?
You say that all the GOP candidates are in on it. Do you mean they are given instructions in what their role is? How does this scheme work? Who exactly is devising the plan and issuing the orders? How can it be so all-encompassing but Sanders is not in on it, and he apparently doesn't even know about it? (Since he's very frank and I think he would be talking about a plan to micromanage the election he hopes to win.)

(80,708 posts)Anyone who still clings to that shit even after the hi-res LCROSS images of the landing sites.. Fucking idiots, on the level of young earth creationists.
It's like an actual reality complex enough to hold billions of years of evolution or a manned mission to the moon, is too big, scary, and most importantly mentally taxing- far easier to believe everything is made of papier mache and "god"- or some spooky conspiracy, take your pick- is hiding behind all the cheap balsa wood set pieces.

(80,708 posts)Who sacrificed all sorts of things, like a normal family life, for years and years, AND risked his life in the process.
So he's got some uninformed jackass constantly in his face yelling at him that his life's work is a sham and a lie?
I'd be pissed, too.
AND last but not least, The moon landings FACTUALLY HAPPENED.

(30,957 posts)is why I spend less and less time on DU. I hope your biases keep you warm at night. Feels so good to be absolutely right in a predictable world that is exactly as you are told it is, isn't it?
It must really gall a guy like that to have to lie about his experiences for 40 plus years. I'd want to take a poke at people too. And Ii do believe we went to the moon--I don't believe the pictures are 100% "real"--and NASA has admitted as much. Where exactly did they draw the line? We may never know, since we don't count and we aren't told. .

(80,708 posts)The Earth is not 6000 years old. Hurricane Katrina didn't hit New Orleans because of gay people. And yes, we went to the moon- as, again, evidenced by the high resolution photos of the landing sites taken in recent years. Once people go BACK and re-visit some of those sites, the "proof" will be even more incontrovertible, not that it matters.
I'm all for reasonable intellectual debate and open-mindedness, but one can bash one's head all day up against batshittery and denial; it's a waste of time. Like arguing with Alex Jones*. Why fucking bother?
NASA "admitted" they faked "some of" the moon landing photos? Where? Got a link to back up that assertion? I don't think that is correct.
*Speaking of which- okay, here's a hypothetical: Parents of kids killed at Newtown, after Alex Jones claims their kids didn't actually exist because, he says, the entire shooting was a phony government false flag operation (true. he did that. Something else for which I would posit "there is no debate"
. Okay, so, like Buzz Aldrin, those parents get pissed at Alex Jones. It COULD BE because they are offended to the core of their being at the hurtful bullshit that tin foil rectum is spouting. Or, it COULD BE because "they're guilty that they got caught being part of the conspiracy".
See why debating this shit is a waste of time? Yes, Buzz Aldrin could be just angry and guilty because he got caught. Has nothing to do with this peabrained idiot with a camcorder harassing him over mindless conspiracy bullshit.

(30,957 posts)But NASA routinely touches up photos.

We'll never know to what extent. But it's well known among researchers.
